Chhaava registered the biggest opening of this year, Rs. 31 crore (nett), when it was released in theatres on February 14, 2025. Before Chhaava's release, Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya's film, Sky Force, registered the biggest opening of 2025, which was around Rs. 15.30 crore. Not only this, Chhaava has surpassed Gully Boy's opening day collection, Rs. 19.40 crore, to become the highest earner on Valentine's Day.
The film is directed by Laxman Utekar, and although it has received mixed reviews, it continues to make its mark at the box office. The cinephiles are absolutely in love with the way Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna have portrayed their respective roles of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale, and Aurangzeb. All three main leads of the film gave one of the best performances of their respective careers.
Despite Vicky Kaushal and Akshaye Khanna's incredible work, Rashmika Mandanna didn't get overshadowed and proved the mettle of her acting skills. A lot of the credit for the superb individual acting performances goes to the film's director, Laxman Utekar. The filmmaker had previously delivered films like English Vinglish, Dear Zindagi, Luka Chuppi, and Mimi. Laxman Utekar reportedly made Chhaava on a budget of Rs. 130 crores and has dealt with such a sensitive film quite brilliantly without igniting any unnecessary controversies.
There's no denying the fact that Vicky Kaushal is the poster boy of the film, Chhaava, and he did complete justice to his role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the epic film. The actor's aggression throughout the film and the way he performed in the climax proved that Vicky is one of the best actors in Bollywood right now.
Vicky Kaushal has been paid a huge fee of Rs. 10 crore for playing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. According to a report in Koimoi, it is almost seven percent of the film's budget, which speaks volumes about Vicky Kaushal's stature. The actor received the same amount of money for his last film, Bad Newz. However, not many people know that Vicky was paid a sum of Rs. 12 crore for working in URI: The Surgical Strike. Regarding Rashmika Mandanna's fee for Chhaava, the South Indian actress received a sum of Rs. 4 crore for playing Yesubai Bhonsale.

Chhaava's main antagonist, Aurangzeb, was played by Akshaye Khanna and the iconic actor was paid a sum of Rs. 2.5 crore. It is a slight increase in his remuneration from his previous film, as he charged Rs. 2 crore for his appearance in Drishyam 2. However, what left the internet in complete dismay is the fact that Akshaye Khanna's fee is five times less than Vicky's whopping fee of Rs. 10 crores.
Akshaye Khanna looked absolutely breathtaking in the film, and some netizens found it hard to digest that he was paid just Rs. 2.5 crore, which was way less than Rashmika's fee. Apart from the lead actors, Ashutosh Rana was paid Rs. 80 lakhs for playing Hambirrao Mohite in the film. Divya Dutta charged Rs. 45 lakh for playing Rajmata Soyarabai Bhosale. We hope the film continues its good run at the box office.
