Popular Bengali singer, Rupankar Bagchi had dug his own grave by bad-mouthing the late singer, Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK. Rupankar’s harsh comment stating ‘other singers are better than KK’ on a Facebook live video was not received well by a larger section of society. Hence, he had fallen prey to nasty trolls and backlash. The Bengali singer had even received death threats despite deleting the controversial video from his Facebook feed.
Now, his wife, Chaitali Bagchi reacted to her hubby’s foolish behaviour and called him ‘boka’ (naive). She also revealed how she is concerned for the safety of her two young daughters after seeing the current rage of the audience against the Bagchi family. Reportedly, the couple has also appointed private security guards at their residence.

It had all started when Rupankar Bagchi had come live on Facebook and had questioned KK’s identity and the frenzy about his Kolkata concert. As KK was performing in Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha on May 31, the internet was abuzz. But, unfortunately, KK had lost his life to cardiac arrest on the night of May 31, 2022, leaving the whole nation in utter disbelief and inconsolable grief. However, Rupankar’s controversial video about KK was already trending on the web by then, and many netizens had slammed the singer for cursing KK.
On June 4, 2022, Rupankar’s wife, Chaitali Bagchi took to her Facebook handle and penned a heartfelt note in Bengali, calling her husband ‘boka’. She also talked about her concern over their two teenage daughter’s safety and their sleepless nights due to the death threats.

Rupankar and Chaitali, who appears on the Bengali game show, Ishmart Jodi are adored by the Bengali showbiz industry. In her poem, Chaitali called social media an ‘adrenaline rush’ and stated how the turn of events in the recent past has ‘terrorised’ them. She also advocated that her husband, Rupankar stay busy in his own artistic world and doesn't know about the harsh world. She also stated how Rupankar’s decision to speak on behalf of Bengali singers was not welcomed by his peers.
