Television actress, Chahatt Khanna is popularly known for her supporting roles (negative) in popular soap operas, Baade Acche Lagte Hain and Qubool Hai. At a very young age, the actress got married, but within four months, she got divorced. Her second marriage also didn’t work well, and again, she ended up getting divorced. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, she expressed how people refused to work with her for being a divorcee.
Chahatt had her second marriage with Farhan Mirza, son of veteran actor, Shahrukh Mirza. But they got divorced within 5 years of marriage. In the interview, Chahatt shared that having a divorce was not easy, as she had two children. She recalled that she was called a gold digger as people thought she took alimony from both her husbands. Addressing the divorce issue, she said:
"My second separation was very difficult. My one daughter stays with Farhan and one stays with me, and we are on decent terms. We speak to each other for the kids because they are our responsibility. Any kind of divorce is painful. It's not easy. Plus, if you are a known person, it becomes difficult to face others. There were a lot of times when I didn't want to go and face people because I knew they'd judge me. I haven't taken any alimony from either of my husbands. But people comment that I am a gold digger. I was like, where is the gold? People message me and DM me, saying that I am living on alimony. This is also a taboo."
In the same interview, Chahatt shared that she had to face extreme social stigma in the industry. She revealed that people from the industry refused to work with her as she had two divorces. Addressing the same, she said:
“Many people didn't want to work with me. Aapka naam bad light mein hain toh a lot of people don't want to associate with you. Aapke personal affairs itne media mein hain toh logon ko aapke saath kaam nahi karna hai. A-list production houses will not work with you. People at the manager level told me to my face that they want to skip it out because of the things in the press and media."
Chahatt Khanna opened up about her first marriage with businessman, Bharat Narsinghani in the interview. Chahatt mentioned that she had been in love with her first husband, when she was 16. At the age of 19, they decided to get married, but her parents were against the marriage as she was very young. She also mentioned that her first marriage lasted for only 4 months.
For the second time, Chahatt got married to Farhan Mirza. She once shared in an interview with Telly Talk India that she was manipulated to convert to Islam and was also not allowed to worship her god. She also shared that she had no regrets about the conversion but is happy to be back to her own roots.
