Emraan Hashmi And Yami Gautam's 'Haq' Gets Green Light In 5 Countries With Zero Cuts By CBFC

Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam are all set to collaborate for the first time with the courtroom drama film, Haq. Even though, the film is yet to be released, it has already become the most-talked about story. In the past few days, the film, Haq directed by Suparn S Verma has received multiple legal notices demanding stay on release and cuts in the film. Amid that, the central board (CBFC) has passed their final verdict on the film. 

CBFC gives green light to Haq without any cuts

Recently, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave their final verdict on Suparn S. Varma’s courtroom drama, Haq. They passed the film with a UA (13+) certificate with no cuts. The team of the film also announced that the movie has also passed censor boards in UAE, the UK, Australia and New Zealand without any edits. On November 04, 2025, Taran Adarsh confirmed this on his X (formerly Twitter) handle. A part of his note can be read as:

"Haq cleared in India, UAE, UK, Australia, New Zealand... #JungleePictures' #Haq – starring #EmraanHashmi and #YamiGautamDhar – has received censor clearance in #India, #UAE, #UK, #Australia, and #NewZealand."

As soon as Taran Adarsh confirmed the UA certificate for Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam starrer film, Haq, a lot of users shared their happiness and excitement on the same. One user commented, "Exciting news! Looks like #Haq has a powerful story to life on the big screen!" Another user wrote, "All set for a powerful release! The certifications are in and #Haq is ready to make its mark worldwide." A third user shared, "This is truly fantastic news! Haq is a serious courtroom drama that tells the story of a woman, who is fighting for her rights after her husband leaves her. Reportedly, the film is inspired by the real-life Shah Bano case from the 1980s legal battle. In the film, Yami Gautam plays 'Shazia Bano' and Emraan Hashmi plays the role of 'Abbas'. When he stops supporting her and their children, she decides to take him to court. Slowly and gradually, this personal fight turned into a national discussion.

Recently, the daughter and legal heir of Shah Bano filed a legal complaint against the film. Reportedly, she has demanded a stay on the movie’s release, saying the producers used her mother’s life story without permission.

Recently, the director of the film, Suparn S Verma took to his Instagram stories to share some first reviews of the courtroom drama. Tahira Kashyap called the film, "A strong film with strong performances and a strong voice". On the other hand, Kuldeep Gadhvi reviewed the film and shared, "The story beautifully balances emotion and social commentary. The screenplay keeps you invested with powerful courtroom sequences and heartfelt domestic moments."
