Ace Frehley, the legendary guitarist who used to make countless people groove over the rhythm of his guitar and has now left for the heavenly abode. The original guitarist and co-founder of the groundbreaking 1970s rock band KISS, has died at the age of 74. The musician, known for his iconic "Spaceman" persona and electrifying guitar, was arrested solo in Morristown, New Jersey, after suffering a brain bleed following a fall in his studio. Frehley's family confirmed that he was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments.
The cause of Frehley's death stems from a brain bleed, medically known as an intracranial hemorrhage. The situation occurs when blood accumulates between the brain and skull, preventing oxygen from reaching the brain. The Cleveland Clinic explains that brain bleeds are life-threatening and require immediate attention to prevent permanent damage. Frehley's brain injury reportedly followed a fall at his studio, which initially seemed minor but later led to severe complications that necessitated hospitalization and life support.
According to reports, Ace had been on a ventilator for several weeks before his condition deteriorated. His fall, combined with the delayed onset of severe symptoms, highlights how even seemingly minor injuries can become fatal for older adults. Medical experts reveal that the severity of a brain bleed depends on its size, location, and the time before treatment, explaining the need for immediate medical attention.
Before his death, Ace Frehley had already canceled the remainder of his health issues. His tour manager, John Ostrosky, had confirmed on Facebook in late September that Ace Frehley experienced a "minor fall" and would be unable to perform as planned. The official statement from Ace's team on October 6 clarified that the guitarist made the difficult decision to cancel all remaining shows for the year. This move disappointed fans but prioritized his health and recovery.
Ace Frehley's family includes his daughter. Monique and ex-wife, Jeanette Trerotola, have been at the center of his care in recent weeks. The couple married in 1976 and welcomed their only child, Monique, in 1980. Despite their separation, Jeanette remained an integral part of Frehley's life, particularly in co-parenting. The father-daughter duo shared a close bond, even getting matching "Ace" tattoos in 2023, and Monique has followed her own creative path as a musician, frequently appearing alongside her father at public events and supporting him on social media.
