Cardi B Issues Fiery Warning After Being Found 'Not Liable' In USD 24M Lawsuit, 'Gonna Make You Pay'

American rapper Cardi B has been making headlines in recent weeks over a legal battle with a Beverly Hills security guard who accused her of assault in 2018. After days of court proceedings, the jury cleared Cardi of all liability, bringing the high-profile case to an end. After being cleared in the assault lawsuit of 24 million US dollars, the rapper hit back with an explosive warning against anyone who tries to sue her in the future for bogus reasons.

The lawsuit that sparked headlines

Cardi B was charged in a lawsuit filed by her former security guard, Emani Ellis, alleging that the rapper had assaulted her in 2018 during a visit to her obstetrician’s office in Beverly Hills. Ellis claimed that the rapper, who was four months pregnant with her first child with Offset, scratched her face with a long fingernail and spat on her, leaving injuries that required plastic surgery. Ellis, in her charges, also claimed that Cardi B’s celebrity status caused her to lose her job and left her with lasting emotional scars.

However, the rapper presented a different side to the story. Originally named Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, Cardi B claimed that it was Ellis who had followed her and filmed her without permission. She said that the former security guard invaded her privacy at a time when she was still trying to keep her pregnancy a secret. Her testimony was further backed by her doctor and the clinic’s receptionist, who confirmed that they never saw any fight. The Rodeo singer insisted that the confrontation never turned physical.

On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, after nearly an hour of deliberation, the Los Angeles jury ruled in favour of Cardi B. The Court rejected Ellis’s claims, awarding her nothing, unanimously siding with the rapper. The verdict declared Cardi B ‘not liable’ for the USD 24 million lawsuit, finally bringing an end to a case that had been dragging on for years.

Throughout the trial, Cardi stayed true to form – unfiltered and unapologetically herself. The 32-year-old rapper claimed that the case had disrupted both her career and family life. After a widely livestreamed testimony last week and finally winning the trial, Cardi told reporters outside the courtroom:

Cardi B issues a fiery warning after winning the case

Post-win, outside the courthouse, Cardi issued a fiery warning to anyone who tries to defame her by charging her with ‘frivolous’ lawsuits in the future. The rapper, known for her unapologetic and outspoken self, openly declared:

“The next person who tries to do a frivolous lawsuit against me, I’m going to countersue, and I’m gonna make you pay. I am not that celeb that you sue and think is going to settle. I’m not gonna settle. Especially when I’m completely innocent.”
