On February 24, 21018, the whole world and especially the Hindi film industry, woke up to the most heart-wrenching news that there could be. We all learnt that India's one of the legendary actresses, Sridevi was no more with us, and a void was left inside us. Sridevi died due to accidental drowning in a bathtub in Dubai where she had gone to attend Mohit Marwah's wedding along with the entire Kapoor clan. Sridevi was married to film producer, Boney Kapoor, and they have children- Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. This was Boney Kapoor's second marriage, as he was earlier married to Late Mona Shourie Kapoor and they have two children- Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. Sridevi's death definitely left a scar in each of the hearts, but it did bring the family closer, and Arjun here deserves the credit as he has been the pillar of strength for his father, Boney Kapoor, and his half-sisters- Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
Boney Kapoor has time and again talked about how much he misses Sridevi. And many a time, at public events he has also gotten teary-eyed. For example, Boney Kapoor took to Twitter yesterday (May 10, 2019) and shared that Sridevi's film, Mom was releasing in China. His tweet also shared that it was a very emotional moment for him. His tweet could be read as, "Mom releases in China today. An emotional moment for me. Thank you @ZeeStudios_ for spreading Sri’s last film to such wider audiences. I hope people will connect with the film there too. @SrideviBKapoor @MomTheMovie."
Owing to Sridevi's film Mom, Boney Kapoor had gotten emotional last year as well when the film was screened by the Film Division of India. After the screening, talking about his late wife, Sridevi, Boney ji had said, "No, Janhvi and Khushi are there with me. My elder son Arjun and Anshula too. They have been my strength. The way Arjun and Anshula accepted Janhvi and Khushi, it has lessened my burden. I believe blood is blood. My strength is my four kids." Boney Kapoor has often shared and been candid about Sridevi's sudden demise and how emotionally traumatic it has been for him. Last year, on June 2, 2018, Boney Kapoor had taken to his Instagram handle and had shared an adorable couple picture to wish Late Sridevi a very happy anniversary. He had captioned the pic as, “Happy Anniversary”. Then, he took to Sridevi’s official Twitter handle and had shared a post which was a sort of throwback video of Sridevi’s candid last moments in Dubai. In the caption, he had written, “Today would have been our 22nd wedding anniversary Jaan My wife, my soulmate, the epitome of love, grace, warmth and laughter lives within me forever."

After the last rites of Sridevi last year, Boney Kapoor had tweeted an emotional note on losing his wife and his daughters’ mother, through Sridevi’s official Twitter account. The tweet had said, “Losing a friend, wife and mother of your two daughters is a loss inexplicable in words... I am blessed to have the support and love of Arjun and Anshula, who have been such pillars of strength for myself, Khushi and Janhvi. Together, as a family, we have tried to face this unbearable loss.”
For his better-half, he had written, "To the world, she was their Chandni, the actor par excellence, their Sridevi, but to me, she was my love, my friend, mother to our girls, my partner. To our daughters, she was their everything... their life. She was the axis around which our family ran." It further stated, “As we bid goodbye to my beloved wife and Khushi & Janhvi’s mama, I have a sincere request. Please respect our need to grieve privately. If you need to talk of Sri, let it be of the special memories that connect each of you to her. She was and is an actor that is irreplaceable. Love and respect her for that.”
Showing his concerns about Janhvi and Khushi, Boney Kapoor had further written, “My only concern at this time is to protect my daughters and find a way to move forward without Sri. She was our life, our strength and the reason we always smiled. We love her beyond measure. Rest in peace my love. Our lives will never be the same again.” (Recommended Read: Arunoday Singh Announces His Separation With Wife, Lee Elton After One-And-A-Half Year Of Marriage)
