Nargis married her Mother India co-star, Sunil Dutt. Nagris was coming out of an extremely painful relationship with Raj Kapoor, who refused to leave his wife even after being with Nargis for nine years. One day, while filming, a fire broke out on the set. Dutt saved Nargis, who got seriously injured. It was while taking care of Dutt that she shared her past with him, bringing them close to one another. Their closeness soon turned into love, leading to their marriage in 1958.
The yesteryear star married the Ugandan businessman in 1974, leaving behind her acting days. The couple is still happily married. In an interview, Mumtaz talked about how her husband had an affair back in the day, and she got into one just to get back at him, but even through that, the couple has only grown stronger.

It is speculated that while Durrani’s only interest in being with Sanjay was materialistic, Maanayata cared more about the actor. She would bring his favourite food on set, be cordial with his friends and even take an interest in Sanjay’s personal and private matters. Her kind behaviour and patience with Dutt were what melted his heart. The duo got married in Goa in 2008. They have since been each other’s rock and withstand a lot together.
