Son of veteran actor, Dharmendra, and brother of an incredible actor, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol had become an overnight sensation when he had made his debut in the film, Barsaat. Although he had proved his mettle in acting with films like Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, Kareeb, Gupt: The Hidden Truth, and Bichhoo, the actor was unable to cope with the competition. As a result, he had started getting replaced by newcomers.
Despite the bad phase of his life, Bobby had bounced back and had begun his second innings. Bobby had made a comeback with the film, Class Of 83, which had premiered on Netflix. And his performance as the sinister godman, ‘Baba Nirala’ in Prakash Jha’s web series, Aashram was hugely applauded by netizens.

In an interview with Spotboye, Bobby Deol talked about his negative role as ‘Baba Nirala’ in the series Aashram and revealed his father, Dharmendra and brother, Sunny Deol’s reactions to it. Revealing their happiness on the same, Bobby shared how his father and brother got calls after the show. In his words:
“Honestly, I never told my father and brother that I am doing Aashram because I never really discussed my work with them. Especially, when I was doing Aashram I never told them anything about it. They themselves always wanted to do different characters but their image became so strong that they could not take those sorts of opportunities. But, when I did this show my dad and brother Sunny started getting calls and there were so happy that one of them has been able to do something different and have broken their positive image.”
In the same interview, Bobby also revealed that his family has only played positive roles in their career and recalled a funny incident when Dharmendra once played a negative role. Talking about the same, Bobby shared:
“My dad was really happy. I remember once many years back my dad did a negative role and my grandmother went to preview that show and she left it halfway, she came home and told my father she was very upset that he played such a character. But now, the industry has changed, it has become more professional. Now, it’s all about actors playing different characters.”

It was in August when the first season of Aashram was released, and Bobby Deol was highly praised for his role as the cunning 'Kashipur Wale Nirala Baba'. Bobby had taken a risk by playing a negative character in Aashram, and it was his gripping performance that had kept everyone hooked. Bobby aced the role of a megalomaniac baba, who indulges in the drug trade, exploitation of women and politics for his benefit from his ‘badnaam’ Aashram.
Well, Bobby's role as 'Baba Nirala' is one of his best performances to date! What do you think? Let us know.
