Dharmendra and his oldest son, Sunny Deol, have both been superstars of their generation. However, the veteran star's younger son, Bobby Deol, found the immense fame he deserved a little later in life. Bobby had made his debut in 1995 with the film Barsaat and was a known actor. However, he became a superstar fairly recently. The actor weighed in on nepotism, stating that the new generation of starkids must prove themselves since they are given only one shot, citing the example of the debuts of his brother, Sunny Deol's sons.
Bobby Deol opened up about his son, Aryaman's debut, in an interview with ABP Live. The actor said that he won't be launching his own son. However, they are waiting for someone to approach Aryaman with a good script. Bobby also revealed that in the meantime, he has asked Aryaman to work on himself. The Soldier actor stated that times have changed since his debut. Starkids do not get more than one chance to prove themselves, said Bobby. In the interview, he was quoted as saying:
“I’m not launching him, but I’m waiting for someone who comes up with a great script for him. We’re waiting right now, and I’ve told my son to work hard on himself until then because the times have changed. When I started, you still got a few chances to prove yourself and get better. Today’s audience is ruthless and honest. You get one chance — if they connect with you, great; if not, it’s over. That’s the reality now."
Bobby Deol shared his opinion on the nepotism debate and said that more often than not, it's the outsiders who have made it, like his father, Dharmendra. The actor said that he was 'blessed' to be the son of the superstar but eventually audience has to be won over by one's work. Bobby shared:
“There are so many actors whose kids have come and not succeeded. Usually, it’s the outsiders who’ve made it. My father was an outsider, and I was blessed to be his son. But it’s your work that speaks for you eventually."
To prove his point, Bobby Deol cited the examples of his nephews, Karan and Rajveer Deol. For the unversed, Karan debuted in 2019 with the film, Pal Pal Ke Dil Paas. Meanwhile, Rajveer marked his start with the 2023 film, Dono. Both of these films turned out to be box office failures. Talking about the rough start of their careers, Bobby said that it hasn't been easy for either of Sunny's sons to make it in Bollywood. He said:

“It hasn’t been easy for my brother’s sons either. Just because they’re Sunny Deol’s sons and Dharmendra’s grandsons doesn’t mean their careers took off. They’ve had to work hard, and they’re still doing that."
