Bobby Deol Recalls Brother, Sunny Got Him Airlifted When Doctors Were Unable To Save His Leg

The Deol brothers, Sunny and Bobby have always shared a bond that goes beyond films, which is rooted in trust, care and never-ending support. Over the years, both of them have faced highs and lows in their personal and professional lives but it is their family connection and bond that has always stood out. Recently, Bobby Deol, who is enjoying his success of The Ba***ds of Bollywood, shared an emotional incident involving him and his brother, Sunny Deol. 

Sunny Deol carried Bobby on his shoulder when the latter injured himself

Recently, Bobby Deol had a candid conversation with Radio Nasha Official, in which he opened up about the early struggles of his career. He recalled the shoot from his debut film, Barsaat and shared a heartfelt incident. He shared that during the shoot, he had broken his leg while horse-riding and his elder brother, Sunny, who was there with him, quickly carried him on his shoulder and rushed to a hospital. He was quoted as saying:

"I still remember, my leg broke in England during the shoot. I was riding a horse, bumped into another horse, lost balance, falling hard to the ground. I saw that one of my legs was completely twisted. I tried to stand but collapsed again. Bhaiya (Sunny) was there, he lifted me onto his shoulders and carried me. All my strength came from him. Just knowing he was there made me feel like nothing bad could happen."

Gupt actor, Bobby Deol continued to add that after the injury, Sunny had immediately taken him to a nearby local hospital, but when doctors over there said that they couldn’t save his leg, the Jaat actor quickly arranged and got Bobby airlifted to London for treatment. He shared:

"He took me to the nearest hospital, but later I found out that the doctors there had said, ‘We can’t save his leg.’ That’s when Bhaiya got me airlifted to London overnight. I had surgery there. He’s always been there for me. It’s been more than 30 years now. I still have a rod and screws in my leg, and while there’s some discomfort and pain, I’ve gotten used to it. But I can walk, run, dance, fight, jump, do action, what more does one need?"

Bobby Deol once called Sunny a 'Superman'

This interview was not the first time when Bobby opened up about his brother, Sunny and spoke about their bond. In 2024, in one of the episodes of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the Animal actor had called Sunny Deol a real life 'Superman', who has been there for him at all times. In his words:

"If there’s someone in real life who’s truly like Superman, it’s Bhaiya. I’ve never seen anyone stronger. Even after undergoing multiple back surgeries, when he’s required to lift someone on set, he does it effortlessly, as if they weigh nothing."

Bobby Deol was most recently seen in Aryan Khan’s directorial series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, in which his performance was highly appreciated by fans. Up next, the actor will be seen in Anurag Kashyap’s film, Bandar and in YRF’s Alpha, alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
