Bobby Deol, lovingly called 'Lord Bobby', has had one rollercoaster of a journey in the film industry. He has faced his fair share of highs and lows, which makes his success a testament to his determination, resilience, and reinvention. However, despite being a star kid, the actor struggled for years before the universe finally blessed him with the honour of basking in well-deserved success.
Veteran actor, Dharmendra has always maintained clear boundaries between his professional life and personal life. The actor has often gone the extra step to protect his kids from the film industry and even got angry at his daughter, Esha Deol, for her Bollywood debut. Nonetheless, as fate would have it, his kids went on to become lead actors in the film industry.
Now, in a recent conversation with Instant Bollywood, Dharmendra's son, Bobby Deol, has reflected on his father's strictness when it came to keeping his kids away from the entertainment industry. The actor recalled that his father would not allow him even to attend star kids' birthday parties. He added that Dharmendra didn't want his children to be indulging with the industry people as he felt that they were too fake. He was quoted as saying:
"Whenever there was a star kid’s birthday, papa would never let me go. I tell him now that you shouldn't have done that. But at that time, I felt it was a big deal. But then it became a habit, and I didn't think too much of it. Papa never wanted us to mingle with the film industry because film industry bahut banawati hai. Toh wo chahte the ki humey banawatipan se door rakhe."
In the same conversation, Bobby Deol revealed that they never had an industry-like environment in their home. He shared that he lived like normal people and was never influenced by the industry. Bobby further added that while he saw that his father got immense love wherever he went, it would always surprise him the same. He stated:
"We never had an environment like the film industry. We had a simple household. We’d never have parties at home or talk about films. We lived like normal people. We were never influenced by the film industry. I just witnessed that my father got a lot of love. Whether I'd go on a set or see people crowd up outside my home, I'd always be surprised by that phenomenon. Why is my father getting so much love?"
In the same conversation, Bobby Deol revealed that he would often visit his father on sets so he could bunk school. He added that he would ask his father if he could go with him on a school morning because he didn't want to go to school. However, then his mother would scold him in the evening. He was quoted as saying:

"I used to with my dad to set not because I wanted to see the shoot, but because I wanted to eat good food. I wanted to bunk school. I’d come to my father in the morning and ask him if I could come along because I didn’t want to go to school, so he'd say, 'Okay, come along.' Then I'd get a scolding from my mother in the evening. Had there been mobile phones then, my mother would’ve called my dad and asked him to send me to school."
