'BLACKPINK's Jennie Accused Of Copying Alia Bhatt's Theme Song From 'RARKPK' And Plagiarising Pritam

Alia Bhatt's role as 'Rani' in Karan Johar's 2023 movie, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has carved a special place in the hearts of cine lovers. From the plot, and cast, to the songs, everything had been top-notch about the movie and garnered a whole lot of attention back in 2023. Recently, RARKPK is back in talks as netizens ended up finding out that K Pop sensation, Jennie Kim has seemingly used a similar theme for her next song, and they accused her of plagiarising Pritam, who was behind the theme song of Alia's character for the movie, RARKPK.

Jennie Kim has been associated with BLACKPINK, and she recently released the 9-second teaser of her next song, Like Jennie, which will be released on March 7, 2025. No sooner did the teaser was dropped, it left Jennie's fans excited, while a certain section of the users found out the song's resemblance to Alia Bhatt's character, 'Rani's theme song from the movie RARKPK. Users have been making collages and posting them on social media, claiming that Jennie has plagiarised Pritam. One user dropped Jennie's teaser of her song along with a clip of Alia Bhatt from the movie, and it actually sounded similar to the users. Sharing the video, the user penned:

"#BLACKPINK's Jennie copied the song 'Rani Anthem' from the movie 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani', which has Indian artist Pritam's credits, in a way that sounds no different."

A netizen came in support of K Pop sensation, Jennie after she got accused of copying Alia Bhatt's theme song

Another user on X shared that it's unbelievable how Jennie has copied the theme song of Alia's character from the movie. Meanwhile, another user came in with Jennie's support and stated that Pritam has also 'copied' some of the Korean songs, 'sampled some others for the intro' of RARKPK, and didn't give credit, whereas Jeenie will probably give the sampling credit. The user argued:

"Pritam literally copied Pehli Nazar me note for note without any credits from a Korean song, prolly did the same for this intro, sampled it, from another international song but didn't legally give credits whereas Jennie will give sampling credits."

When Pritam reacted to the plagiarism charges against him

Pritam has been in the music industry for decades. His strong grasp of his skills made him stand out of the crowd. Well, there had been a whole lot of allegations against Pritam, that he plagiarised songs. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, he was asked about the same. Replying to this, Pritam said that he had made mistakes initially, but later he became more careful and has been particular about his music after realising it. He also said that people spread false allegations mostly. He further shared how once an Iranian band had to apologise to a court for falsely claiming that the singer had plagiarised Pungi from Agent Vinod, and that's how he stopped taking in false allegations against him.
