Bipasha Basu's Cat Fight With Ameesha Patel Over 'Wearing Same Dress': 'How Can I Commit A Crime..'

Bipasha Basu and Ameesha Patel had the ugliest catfights in the history of Indian cinema. The two actresses openly bashed each other in front of media and industry people. But things took an ugly turn when Ameesha and Bipasha both came walking on the green carpet of IIFA 2011, wearing the same outfit from the same designer.

It was in 2011 when the IIFA Awards witnessed a major fashion faux pas that escalated into a war of words between two prominent actresses, Ameesha and Bipasha. The actresses were spotted in similar outfits and found themselves in an awkward situation in front of fans and media.

Bipasha wore a nude-toned cocktail dress from Ramona Narang. She styled it with subtle makeup and pin-straight hair. A chunky bracelet and nude-toned heels completed her look. On the other hand, Ameesha wore a soft yellow-hued dress from the same designer. She accessories her look with statement earrings, adding a pop of colour. A Dior bag and pink pumps.

After the event, Bipasha talked about the situation on her Twitter account. Without naming Ameesha directly, she called her a 'fellow actress' who ended up wearing a similar dress in a different colour as her on the green carpet. She added that she would be planning her outfit for the next award function. Her tweet could be read as:

"Last night a fellow actress landed up wearing the same dress in a diff color as me on d green carpet! It ws quite amusing even for me (sic). So, next time I’ll plan my green carpet outfit in advance n nt pull out things frm my cupboard last min (sic)."

After this, Ameesha hit back at Bipasha on her Twitter handle. Ameesha revealed that the designer made her dress two months in advance. She wrote:

"Ramona Narang, the designer made my dress two months in advance. Fortunately, I don’t need to copy anyone. I know you (fans) are upset at some nasty and not-required comments made by another actor… As for copying, why would I? How silly!"

Later, in an interview with Zoom, Bipasha talked about the fashion mishap and stated that she picks a lot of clothes and a lot of people can own them. She said:

"Yeah that's funny because I pick up a lot of clothes from the roadside also. So at least a zillion people can have that same outfit. I don't think how can I commit a crime if I am wearing the same outfit as someone else."

When the interviewer told her that, Ameesha exclaimed that their outfits were similar, but she had styled them with her DIOR accessories. To this, Bipasha stated that she wore everything cheap with the designer dress. She was quoted as saying:

"Yeah I had nothing. Absolutely nothing, very cheap shoes, very cheap accessories."
