Bhumi started her acting career with the movie, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, in 2015. Apart from that, she also showcased her exceptional acting chops in several other movies such as Pati Patni Aur Woh, Badhaai Do, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Govinda Naam Mera, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and so many more. Actors and actresses often have to go through several mean comments from the audience, and they often become the target of body-shaming. Bhumi Pednekar is no exception. While during her debut film, she received mean comments for being overweight, now that she owns a perfectly toned physique and chiselled abs, people have been trolling her by claiming that the diva has undergone stomach surgery. Recently, Bhumi opened up about the same.

In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Bhumi Pednekar talked about all this online trolling. The diva stated that no matter what someone does, people are going to troll, as it has become normal now. Elaborating on how people will still troll her if she wears clothes from head to toe, Bhumi stated that earlier all such comments on fashion choices and body-shaming were limited within the four walls, but it has now spread out. Talking more about the same, Bhumi said:

"No matter what you do, people will troll. Trolling has become so normal now. I could put up a post during a festival in a so-called ‘fully clothed’ version of myself and people will still troll. During promotions, we went all out looking like the best versions of ourselves. Earlier, only family members used to troll you but now it has spread far and wide beyond your home. I’ve developed a thick skin now because I’ve been hearing things like how I would start looking more beautiful if I lose a few kilos, right since my childhood. I was questioned as to why I wear short dresses.”

Further in the interview, Bhumi Pednekar said that during her debut film, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, she wanted to wear dresses according to her choice, but people used to look at her differently. The diva shared that during that time, she had to listen to several mean comments, and she was even being questioned if she was sure to wear short clothes. Talking about how it gave birth to a fire in her belly, Bhumi mentioned:

"Even during Dum Laga Ke Haisha, I would still dress the way I always did because nothing had changed in my life. The fact that I gained some weight wasn’t such a bad thing for me. But people were looking at me differently. I was told some really mean things. I was told, ‘Are you sure you want to wear such short clothes? People can be really mean. But that gave birth to a fire in my belly. I was like, ‘Abb tu ruk!’”

Bhumi Pednekar heaps praise on her co-star, Shehnaaz Gill

In the concluding segment of her interview, Bhumi Pednekar heaped praise on her Thank You For Coming co-star, Shehnaaz Gill. The diva lauded Shehnaaz for her bravery in reading people's opinions in her comment section. Sharing that she never reads any comments, Bhumi stated:

"What kind of people are these? They speak about preserving their culture but they use such nasty language to share their opinions about you in their comments. It’s in our culture to respect women and conduct ourselves in a respectful way but the way they speak in is gross and disgusting! Shehnaaz is very brave to read through comments but I just can’t. I don’t read anything at all.”

When netizens speculated if Bhumi had gone through liposuction

On September 15, 2023, a Reddit user dropped a video of Bhumi Pednekar, wherein she was seen posing for the paps, who were stationed outside her vanity van. However, Bhumi's chiselled abs grabbed the eyeballs of the netizens, and they started throwing speculations in the comment section. Some of the internet users even claimed that the actress had gone under the knife and had liposuction, a tummy surgery.
