Bharti Singh Recalls How SRK Made Her Emotional By Dressing As 'Lalli', 'He Just Did What I Asked'

Bharti Singh, in a new interview, revealed what made her emotional when superstar, Shah Rukh Khan dressed as her iconic character, 'Lalli' without any hesitation.

Bharti Singh Recalls How SRK Made Her Emotional By Dressing As 'Lalli', 'He Just Did What I Asked'

Bharti Singh is one of the most loved comedians in India. She is known for her impressive comic timing, admirable humour, and vibrant personality. Her fans have witnessed her journey from being a newcomer from Amritsar to a household name in the country. Apart from her jokes, Bharti has also impressed fans with some of her iconic roles, like her popular child character, 'Lalli,' who became a favourite among fans. Fans loved the innocence, fun and mischievous nature of 'Lalli,' and it became iconic when Bollywood's superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, agreed to dress up like it, leaving Bharti in tears. 

Bharti Singh recalls how Shah Rukh Khan immediately agreed to dress up as 'Lalli'

Bharti Singh, known for her honesty, recently graced The Thugesh Show with her husband, Harsh Limbachiyaa. Amid other conversations on the show, the comedian recalled one of the most emotional moments in her career when SRK dressed as her popular character 'Lalli' on Comedy Nights Bachao. When the actor dressed up and performed with her on stage, Bharti began to cry and hugged him. Explaining what made her cry, Bharti said: 

 "I was new in the industry, having just come from my village. I doubted whether Shah Rukh would perform as Lalli. I also didn't know the level of grandeur— I hadn't seen Mannat. So, I just asked him, 'Sir, will you dress up as Lalli?'"

As Bharti was not much experinced in the industry then, she hesitated to ask the superstar whether he would wear a wig to dress up as her well-known character. But she was surprised when he agreed in a second and even went ahead and asked for its full costume, which included frock and some accessories, to complete the role. Watching SRK dressed as the character she developed made the comedian recall all her past struggles and how she carved her journey to the platform. Recounting the moment, she said: 

"I had come to Mumbai from a poor family in Amritsar, and here I was, asking Shah Rukh Khan for something—and he just did it. It was one of the golden days of my life. I am a huge fan of his."

Shah Rukh Khan's fun joke about dressing up as 'Lalli' reflected his graciousness 

Shah Rukh Khan has earned a name for his memorable on-screen roles. But, off-screen, his chivalry, politeness and gracious nature have made him rule the hearts of his fans. Likewise, in a clip of Shah Rukh Khan from the moment he dressed up as 'Lalli' went viral where he was seen making another sweet gesture. Rather than being hesitant or uncomfortable after dressing up in a frock, Shah Rukh hugged Bharti Singh. At the same time, he made a fun joke to make her stop crying and keep the moment light. SRK said: 

“Pehle hi log jo hai samajhte nahi hai ki main macho hero hoon. Yeh dekhne ke baad thodi bohot jo rahi hogi woh bhi khatam ho jayegi”

Bharti Singh's career so far 

Bharti Singh began her journey by participating in the comedy reality series, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. She ended up as the second runner-up on the show, where she developed her iconic character, 'Lalli.' The comedian went on to work on more seasons of Comedy Circus and hosted Comedy Nights Bachao. Bharti also became a part of several reality TV shows like Nach Baliye 8, and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi – Made in India and hosted many others. She is presently seen in Laughter Chefs – Unlimited Entertainment season 2.
