Bhagyashree Recalls Taking Daughter, Avantika To Set, 'Didn't Believe In Leaving My Kids To Nannies'

Bhagyashree, who debuted with Maine Pyar Kiya, quickly won hearts with her first film. Her impressive acting, grace, innocence and beauty charmed the audience, earning her a special place in the hearts of fans. However, rather than soaking in the success, the actress left showbiz to marry her husband, Himalaya Dasani and look after her kids. In a recent interview, Bhagyashree shared how she resumed her career after welcoming her daughter and revealed her views on gender equality.

Bhagyashree recounts balancing motherhood and work

Bhagyashree recently sat down with Mid-day and shared her experience balancing motherhood with her career. She admitted that it is difficult when you are a mother who wants to achieve her dreams because there are lots of responsibilities towards the family. The actress revealed that her daughter, Avantika Dasani, was small when she resumed her career. So, she used to take her little one set with her. Recalling the experience, she said:

"To strike the balance somewhere, there is no right and wrong. It is a fight that you have to win every day. So you have to put on your armour and go there and do your stuff. I didn't believe in leaving my children with nannies. Though I had my in-laws, I didn't think it was right to expect them to look after a toddler."

The Maine Pyar Kiya actress highlighted that she would never like to return home after work to hear someone say they looked after her kids. She noted that it wasn't easy, but she got a good chance to fulfil her role as a mother while continuing her work. Sharing why she didn't resume her career after the birth of her firstborn son, Abhimanyu, in 1990, Bhagyashree said:

"I think I was more capable at that age than I was when Abhimanyu (Dasani) was born. I was far too young to manage both worlds."

Bhagyashree shares her views on ensuring gender equality at home

Bhagyashree has been a vocal supporter of gender equality through her interviews and social media in the past years. As the mother of a son and daughter, the actress admits that equality has been taught to children from a young age. She believes that household tasks should be shared by both the kids and not just the daughter. In her words:

"Brother has come; he is very tired; give him water. No, that doesn't work. Both of them are equipped to cook food for themselves. Because they used to say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I also feel it works the opposite way. I feel that when you bring up your children as rounded human beings, it gives them a chance to interact with complete equality."
