It is no surprise that, as soon as a girl’s wedding gets fixed, and even much before that, her thoughts become pre-occupied with one thing essentially- her trousseau and her wedding outfits. She wants something that would raise her groom’s heartbeats, leave her in-laws and the baaratis in awe, arouse the green-eyed monster in all the other girls present, and would leave mouths open of her social media friends and followers! And to achieve all this, she would travel through the length and breadth of the country (and at times, even beyond) to get the best for her wedding.
Well dear brides-to-be, you could have saved yourself the trouble of scouting for the best throughout the country, if you would have just made it to the Vogue Wedding Show 2015.
Yes, this was indeed one of the best events in the town to find out about the hottest wedding fashion trends, and to meet the people who actually make it happen. From ace fashion designers, like Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Malhotra, Anita Dongre, Ritu Kumar, Sabyasachi, etc., to the best of jewellers in the country, like Amrapali Jewels, Anmol Jewellers, Forevermark, etc., were all present under one roof for three whole days. And what’s more? They not just showcased their latest collections, but even indulged in conversations with young brides-to-be.
Apart from all this, the event also had many interactive sessions with a number of known names, including ace Bollywood stylist and Vogue India’s fashion director, Anaita Shroff Adajania, with whom we got a chance to interact and ask a few questions on behalf of our readers (we hope to get another chance to interview and get some more amazing bridal fashion tips from her for all our readers, because the way she can decode the world of bridal fashion, we doubt anyone else can!).

Don’t worry, just because you could not make it to the show this year, doesn’t mean that all is lost. Team BollywoodShaadis attended the show on behalf of all its readers. And, here is the best of the best from the best! Take a look as we give you titbits from our interactions with some of the best designers of the country, bring you absolutely droolworthy images from their bridal collections, and give you the highlights of the show.
When it comes to Indian weddings, red and gold are two inescapable colours. And who can present them in the best ways than Sabyasachi!
What’s more? We even ran into him as we were looking around at his stall, and asked him a quick question on everyone’s behalf– Why always red? And he told us, tradition is something that should not be tampered with. He went on to add that if you ask Indian girls about their one favourite bridal colour, the majority will definitely say, red. And for him, Indian weddings and red go hand-in-hand!
And, we totally agree!
One outfit that we particularly loved was the red and dull gold/beige saree that Deepika Padukone wore for the IIFA Awards 2015. Totally a must-have piece for an Indian bride’s trousseau.

Amazing display of subtle, warm and subdued colours is what we loved about Manish Malhotra’s collection at showcase. And it was clear that almost everyone wanted a piece of it, given the crowd that we spotted here every time we tried to go in to take a look!
One outfit we absolutely loved was the bright pink gown, in the middle of the stall. With minimal work on it in stunning gold, this is a perfect pick for your engagement or cocktail function, especially if you have opted for a heavy lehenga for the wedding day!

Another designer who can work with any colour or fabric and weave magic in it is, Tarun Tahiliani. Be it rich red or maroon, luxurious gold, subtle pastels, or bright yellow or orange, he can turn it all in to any bride’s dream wedding dress!
So we even got a chance to have a talk with Tarun Tahiliani, and it was an amazing experience. We asked him, what is that one common blunder that most Indian brides end up committing? He said something that we feel all Indian brides need to make a note of. He said that indian brides often overload themselves with more than they can handle. From a heavy outfit to even heavier jewellery, all combined with loud makeup, all of which together spell a disaster. So dear brides-to-be, make a note!
Below are two looks that we spotted at Tarun Tahiliani's Vogue Wedding Show 2015, which were also showcased at the India Bridal Fashion Week as well. Take a look:
And, here are two amazing looks at the Vogue Show that made us fall in love, two beautiful floor-length anarkali/gowns that are heavy in terms of work but subtle in colour, which makes them perfect for your pre-wedding functions. Now this is called, striking a perfect balance!

When we reached the stall of this talented designer duo we got a chance to strike a quick conversation with Monica Shah, one half of the duo. And, we used this time to ask her as many questions as possible related to Indian bridal trends. We asked Monica, what are the things that a bride should keep in mind while selecting her bridal lehenga? She gave us three very crucial points- skin tone, body type, and your family's traditions and preferences. The logic behind the last point is simple, Indian weddings are a family affair, and even though you wish to explore fashion trends, you wouldn't wish to stand out for any wrong reasons.

When we asked Monica Shah, what are some different colours that brides must invest in? She suggested- burnt orange and royal blue. And, when we asked her about the one colour that would dominate fashion of 2016, she revealed- Gold! So girls, are you taking notes?
