On April 18, 2025, the wedding bell finally rang for Dilip Ghosh, the former Bengal BJP President. He got married to Rinku Majumdar, a key member of the BJP’s Mohila Morcha. The couple got married following the traditional Bengali wedding rituals. For their marriage, Dilip wore a white kurta along with a white dhoti accompanied by a topor on his head, while Rinku wore a red Benarasi saree.
The couple got married in a private ceremony in New Town, West Bengal, in the presence of close relatives and friends. The guests included Sunil Bansal, Mangal Pandey, Sukanta Majumdar, Locket Chatterjee, and Amit Malviya. When a BJP leader close to the couple was asked about when the duo decided to get married, he said:
“It was during an IPL match earlier this month, which Dilip Ghosh and his would-be wife attended, that they decided to get married."
Rinku Majumdar has been an active participant in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 2013. She handled various pivotal roles in the party like the Mahila Morcha, OBC front, and the handloom cell. “Since 2013, I’ve been associated with the BJP organisation. When he was an MLA-MP, I never spoke to him. At that time, I worked at the block level. We first spoke just before the 2021 elections at Eco Park — very casually. During this Lok Sabha election, we spoke a bit more. Very ordinary interactions, nothing beyond that.”
Dilip Ghosh was unmarried, while Rinku was married previously, which ended in a divorce. In an interview with News 18, Rinku revealed who was the first person to bring up the marriage proposal. Rinku also disclosed the preconditions she had for the marriage. She also mentioned that Dilip was the most eligible bachelor in her constituency. Addressing the same, she said:
“Around mid-September, when I was thinking about settling down, I proposed to him. My conditions were: it has to be someone within New Town, and he must accept my political career. While thinking through all this, he came to mind. He’s not like the usual political figures. He’s a very good person—very honest, strong. I really liked these qualities and thought, why not propose to him.”
Dilip Ghosh, the BJP Bengal ex-chief, entered politics when he was young. At first, he was involved with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and later in 2015, he became an active participant in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Known for his bold remarks, Dilip Ghosh played a prominent role in establishing the BJP as the main opposition party, replacing the then-prominent party CPI(M). As per reports, Dilip Ghosh shared with a news channel that it was his mother’s wish to see him get married. Speaking of the same, Dilip said:
“My mother wanted me to get married, so to honour her wish, I am tying the knot. I will continue to be active in politics as I was before. My personal life will have no impact on my political work.”
