There is no greater truth than death and the pain of loosing someone close cannot be expressed in words. Nothing in this world can fill the vacuum left behind by them and every moment without them seems like a never-ending pain. April 29, 2020, was the day when the nation had witnessed one of the biggest shocks of the year. The news of actor, Irrfan Khan’s untimely death had flashed the headlines and his friends, colleagues and fans had stood numb in shock. Irrfan Khan had stunned his audience with a stellar performance in his debut film, Salaam Bombay and since there has been no looking back for this versatile actor. An institution of talents, Irrfan’s effortless action and amazing dialogue delivery had always mesmerised his fans. Whether it is Piku or Paan Singh Tomar, Irrfan had done justice to all his on-screen characters. It has been more than three months that the actor had left everyone for his heavenly abode but we still have not come in terms with his untimely death.

Since Irrfan Khan’s death, his son, Babil has been sharing pictures and videos of his late father keeping him alive in our hearts. On August 5, 2020, Babil took to his IG handle and shared pictures of his father’s old room from his beach house in Madh Island. From old posters of some of his iconic films to black and white family pictures, Babil shared glimpses of some of the most treasured items from his room. Along with the pictures, Babil wrote, “This is my father’s old room near the beach before we shifted to the city. This is where he did most of his work. Studying acting now, I think of one of the ideas that he used to implement; that the craft has immense emotional similarities to playing around as a child.”

He further shared how the empty room always echoed in silence and continued, “At age 9, when you hold that cricket bat inside the walls of your room, you can feel a stadium roar and see a bowler rushing to knock your head off. When I held that nerf gun in my hands, my father’s empty room always echoed in the silence of Madh Island, but in that moment I was John Wick surrounded by bad guys with machine guns, gunshots everywhere, and you can hear them, you know? I was a woman once, after watching chak de India and I’d get excited dribbling around imaginary defenders and then really shoot that solid ball with my hockey stick and I’d break something. Oh I’d always break something, ma would get so pissed. The Maqbool actor was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in March 2018, and a few days later, he had left for London for his treatment. He had returned in February 2019 for shooting the film, Angrezi Medium, and had flown back to London for another surgery. He had returned to India in September 2019 hail and hearty, but on April 28, 2020, the actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital due to colon infection and was kept in ICU. On April 29, 2020, the actor had breathed his last and had bid adieu to his loved ones.
Irrfan had always shared a warm and friendly relationship with his sons, Babil and Ayaan. In a 2017 interview, the legendary actor had revealed how he had reacted on seeing a 'love bite' on his son, Babil's neck! The 'daddy cool' had revealed his reaction on his son, Babil's love life. He had said, "My kids are very open with me. When I saw a love mark on his neck and confronted him about it, he said, ‘no it’s not that, it is a rash.’ I said to him Beta congratulations. (laughs)."
