Late Irrfan Khan's son, Babil Khan, made his debut in the Hindi film industry with Qala. There isn't a day or a moment when the actor does not miss his baba. It has been 5 years since Irrfan passed away, and in Babil's Instagram account, which is now deactivated, countless priceless childhood pictures with his baba have been there. Babil's emotional posts on his social media feed prove how much he misses his baba. However, do you know, Babil as a kid was a very naughty boy. The actor recently confessed to how he would spat a chewing gum on Irrfan.
Babil, in the past, has proudly confessed that he was raised on the sets of a film. When his late dad, Irrfan, was doing Qarib Qarib Single, Babil was a camera intern back then. Babil, who is busy with the promotions of Logout, is known to wear his opinions on his sleeves. During a recent interview with RavanSpeaks, Babil shared that he had visited his baba's film sets once and was unaware of what his dad did. Babil revealed:
"I would just. I would not know what my father's job actually was. I just remember running on sets, and I was a very mischievous kid. I remember in one take or something, I spit chewing gum in the shot on papa's face. He was not pissed that I did like that. He tried to explain to me that the economics of film and how expensive it is, and you didn't realise anything."
Irrfan passed away in 2020 after his tough fight with Neuroendocrine tumour and was known for his work in Bollywood as well as Hollywood. Irrfan's work in Piku, Life In A Metro, Haasil, Paan Singh Tomar, Maqbool, Haidar, The Amazing Spider-Man, Life of Pi and Jurassic World.
It was on April 29, 2025, when Irrfan's fifth death anniversary was there, and Babil remembered how his baba walked on the earth, swam waters, and went into battles that were thrown to him irrespective of his wishes. Babil, in a statement, clearly remembered and said:
"Baba walked this earth, swam the waters, marched into battles that were thrown at him regardless of his wishes. He was a warrior with a heavy foot that transformed into a prophet with steps so light he could walk on air."
Babil going ahead also remembered how Irrfan's performance stayed with everyone in the hearts of all fans. He recollected that his favourite performance by Baba was his film, Piku, next to Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone.

It was in 2018 when the versatile actor Irrfan, who was known to bring life to his characters, was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer. He was treated in the USA for a year, and in 2019, he came back to India. Irrfan was then admitted to Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he was treated for his colon infection. Sadly, at the age of 53, the stellar actor passed away, leaving behind his sea of fans with his body of work and memories engraved for a lifetime.
