Ayesha Jhulka's Career Was Ruined After Her Rape Scene Was Shot Without Her Permission, Felt Cheated

Ayesha Jhulka was one of the leading actresses of Bollywood in the 90s. The diva rose to fame with the popular song, Pehla Nasha, picturised on her and Aamir Khan from the film, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Ayesha Jhulka made her Bollywood debut in the film, Kurbaan in 1991 and had mesmerised everyone with her performance in films like Khiladi, Masoom, and Kurbaan.

Despite being one of the leading actresses of the industry in the 90s, her career was ruined by a shocking incident. It was in 1993, when Ayesha starred in the film, Dalaal, opposite Mithun Chakraborty as the lead actor. However, a particular scene in the film was shot without Ayesha’s permission, which led to a huge controversy.

The film featured a rape scene, which was shot with Ayesha’s body double, but the actress was not informed about the same. During the trial of the film, Ayesha was not invited, but later, a journalist called her and quipped about the scene, and the actress was clueless about it. Ayesha is known for portraying decent roles, and when she got to know about the rape scene, she was taken aback.

Ayesha Jhulka felt cheated after seeing the rape scene and filed a complaint

When Ayesha Jhulka called producer, Prakash Jha to enquire about the rape scene, however, he denied the same. But when she saw the scene at another trial, Ayesha felt cheated. Talking about the same in an interview with Hindi Rush, Ayesha said:

“The same journalist called me again after a couple of days and asked me if I had talked to the makers. I told him about the conversation I had with Mehra ji. He told me that there’s another trial planned for the press after two days and asked me to come and see it. So, I went to that trial show uninvited and saw that scene myself. I was very angry and felt cheated. The next day itself, I filed a case in the IMPPA.”

After the scene’s controversy, Ayesha Jhulka stopped getting lead roles and was offered B-grade films. Soon, the actress stepped away from the glamour world and revealed not getting good roles as a reason for leaving Bollywood. Ayesha made her OTT debut in 2022 with the web series, Hush Hush.

Talking about her personal life, Ayesha Jhulka is happily married to business tycoon, Sameer Vashi since 2003. Incidentally, the duo does not have any child even after so many years of their marital bliss. In a throwback interview with The Indian Express, Ayesha talked about her conscious decision to not have children and said:

“I don't have kids as I didn't want them; I spend a lot of time and energy on my work and social causes. And I am glad that my decision went down well with the entire family.”
