Asha Bhosle's Daughter, Varsha's Body Was Found In A Pool Of Blood, Singer Wanted To Meet Her Again

Asha Bhosle, a name that is etched in golden letters in the history of Indian music. The two sisters, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, came and conquered the musical industry for several decades. While Lata Mangeshkar passed away in 2022, Asha Bhosle left for the heavenly abode in 2026. However, not many know that in 92 years of her life, Asha suffered the biggest blow with the death of her daughter, Varsha.

Asha Bhosle suffered the biggest loss when her daughter, Varsha, committed suicide

Asha Bhosle suffered the biggest loss of her life when she lost her daughter, Varsha, at the age of 56. It was reported that Varsha Bhosle shot herself in the head with a licensed weapon. She was found lying in a pool of blood on a sofa in her living room at 10:30 a.m on October 8, 2012. Her body was discovered by Asha Bhsole's driver, and they informed everyone. 

However, Asha Bhosle wasn't in the country at that time, as she was in Singapore. Initially, the family thought of hiding the details of Varsha's death. But it was her son, Anand, who thought it was better if she knew about the same. Recalling the horror of the news, Asha Bhosle fell to the ground. She wanted to be with her daughter at the first available light. In an interview with Mirror, Asha Bhosle said:

"I was in Singapore when it happened. They wanted to keep me in the dark about it. But my son Anand thought it was better if I knew. When I was told, I just fell to the ground. I wanted to return by the first available flight."

Asha Bhosle revealed her sister, Lata Mangeshkar's condition after she found out about her niece's demise by suicide. Asha revealed that the veteran singer didn't stop crying, and she hoped that she had not been told about Varsha's suicide. She usually stayed in her room and would not have known about it, but the way things panned out, she found out about the mishap. She said:

"Didi (Lata) has taken this very badly. She just can’t stop crying. I wish she hadn’t been told about it. Didi is mostly in her room, so she needn’t have known. But when it happened, the place was swarming with activity. So it couldn’t have been avoided."

As per many sources, Asha Bhosle changed after the death of her daughter. Varsha had taken her spirit away, and it was hard for her to get back to life. But the grief bonded her back to her sister, Lata Mangeshkar, and they got even closer. As per a report Varsha Bhosle was a singer and columnist. She was battling depression and was undergoing treatment at Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai. She was the daughter of Asha Bhosle and her first husband, Ganpatrao Bhosle. 

Varsha was married to a freelance sports writer, Hemant Kenkre. She had a difficult marriage and got separated. After the divorce, she started living with Asha Bhosle. It was reported that Varsha had tried to take her life back in 2008 by popping sleeping pills, but she was saved by the doctors. 

Asha Bhosle lived life on her own terms and stayed true to her love for music. When her daughter passed away, it was Asha's love for music that healed and helped her move forward. The legendary singer is not with us, but her songs will life forever.
