Asha Bhosle Admitted In Breach Candy Hospital After Suffering A Cardiac Arrest At The Age Of 92

One of the most iconic Bollywood singers, Asha Bhosle, who is best-known for her soulful voice in blockbuster songs like Sharara, Radha Kaise Na Jale, Tumse Milke, Sapne Mein, Zara Sa Jhoom Lu Main and more has reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and is currently hospitalised. Asha Bhosle has been admitted in Breach Candy Hospital

A while ago, some major media outlets confirmed that veteran singer, Asha Bhosle suffered a cardiac arrest on April 11, 2026. It is worth mentioning that Asha is currently 92 years old. Within moments of the cardiac arrest, she was rushed to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. A report by Dainik Bhaskar, a while ago, revealed that Asha Bhosle is in the ICU and being monitored by the best doctors.

It is worth mentioning that as of now, neither Asha Bhosle’s family nor the hospital has shared any official statement. However, a recent report by Hindustan Times claimed that the singer is in a critical state. Reportedly, Asha’s health had not been very good since the past few months. Fans will have to wait for sometime to know more about Asha’s health.

Asha Bhosle has had a tough and traumatic life

While Asha Bhosle is widely loved for her soulful voice, do you know that the veteran singer had a very tough early life. Asha is the daughter of classical singer, Dinanath Mangeshkar and the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar. At the age of 9, Asha tragically lost her father, which left a deep impact on her. Later, at the age of 16, she eloped and got married to Ganpatrao Bhosle. However, during this period, she faced several difficulties, including domestic violence. Due to the same, she even tried to kill herself while she was pregnant. The singer once shared:

"On one occasion I felt I should kill myself. I was ill. I was four months pregnant and found myself in hospital where the conditions were so bad that I thought I had landed in hell. I was in mental agony. So, I swallowed a bottle of sleeping tablets. But the love I had for my unborn child was so strong that I did not die. I was dragged back to life, to living."

Asha Bhosle’s married life with R.D. Burman

Later, Asha Bhosle met R.D. Burman in 1966, while working on the song, Teesri Manzil. Eventually, they went on to collaborate on multiple iconic songs. Slowly and gradually their professional relationship turned into strong friendship and later blossomed into love. R.D. Burman soon proposed to the singer; however, his mother was not in support of this.

According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, R.D. Burman’s mother had told him to marry Asha Bhosle after her death. The reason behind the same was that Asha was 6 years older than him and also had three children. Eventually, R.D. Burman agreed. Years later, when his father passed away, the singer got married to Asha Bhosle so that she could take care of his mother amid the tough time.

Apart from this, Asha Bhosle also had a daughter, Varsha, who tried to commit suicide in 2008 by consuming sleeping pills. However, doctors saved her life. Later, in 2012, she ended her life by shooting herself. This too left a major void in Asha Bhosle’s heart. At that time, a family friend had shared:

"She led a troubled life. Was it the pressure of being Asha Bhosle's daughter, we will never know. None of the second generation Mangeshkars made it big, but it seems Varsha took it to heart."
