Legendary singer, Asha Bhosle had received a lot of prestigious awards over the decades, but the recent announcement by Maharashtra government about honouring the iconic singer with the state's highest civilian award, Maharashtra Bhushan Award has made Asha ji emotional. A committee led by the honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray announced this wonderful news, and it has made Asha ji's fans super-delighted and proud. For the unversed, Asha Bhosle's sister, Lata Mangeshkar had also received the prestigious award from the Maharashtra government back in 1997, and no wonder it's an incredibly proud moment for the Mangeshkar family.

According to a report in The Hindu, Asha Bhosle received amazing news from the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray and the singer thanked him and said, "I thank him that he thought of choosing me for the award." Asha ji also stated that Maharashtra's people have always treated her like a member of their family, and for that, she'll always be eternally grateful to them.
On March 25, 2021, the Maharashtra government announced that they've selected legendary singer, Asha Bhosle for the state government's highest honour, Maharashtra Bhushan Award for the year 2020. The state government announced this, keeping in mind the iconic singer's incredible contribution to the Indian music industry over the decades and revealed that she'd also be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakh along with a citation. After receiving the news, Asha Bhosle took to her Instagram handle and reacted to the state government's decision with a heartfelt note, as she shared a beautiful picture of herself with folded hands in gratitude towards the government. Along with the picture, Asha ji penned a heartfelt note and thanked every single person of Maharashtra. Her note can be read as "My heart felt gratitude to the people of Maharashtra for conferring upon me the highest level of honour the state can award to an individual - the Maharashtra Bhushan Award. Eternally grateful. Jai hind. Jai Maharashtra."
The amazing news spread like wildfire on the internet, and Asha Bhosle's fans and supporters started dropping their congratulatory messages on her post's comment section, while some reshared her post on their IG stories. Like those fans, Asha ji's granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle was also left speechless after knowing that her grandmother would be honoured with the Maharashtra government's highest civilian award. The delighted granddaughter shared her granny's post on her IG stories and wrote, "No Words" atop with. Zanai also reshared her Women's Day post for her grandmother, Asha ji on her IG stories and wrote, "So proud of my most amazing grandmother. Maharashtra Bhushan Award" atop it.

After some hours, Asha ji posted a beautiful video with Zanai in which we can see a delicious cake and some sweets on a table, brought by her doting granddaughter, Zanai for a small celebration. The video started with Zanai asking Asha ji about her reaction to this big announcement and emotions she's feeling at the moment. She said, "Asha aayi, the government has given you the Maharashtra Bhushan Award,' how are you feeling?" To which, Asha ji replied, "I am feeling very delighted, as I have received a lot many awards, and this award is from my maayka (from my mom's home) that is why I am extremely happy. I am very much thankful to the Maharashtra government as they have given me this award. Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra."
