Asha Bhosle's Daughter Varsha Who Died By Suicide Once Confessed Of Deleting Memories Of Her Father

Asha Bhosle left the world at the age of 92 on April 12, 2026. The evergreen singer had three children, and one of them was late, Varsha Bhosle. She was a columnist who had carved her own niche in the media and used to write extensively about her mother, offering insights into her life with Asha. Varsha, who died by suicide. Varsha was known for her unconventional views and once revealed that she had deleted her memories of her dad, Ganpatrao Bhosle. Asha was in a toxic marriage with her first ex-husband, Ganpat.

Asha Bhosle's daughter, Varsha, who used to write for Rediff, once revealed that her earliest memory of the singer was a fleeting montage of doorbells ringing very late at night. She knew a sobbing lady who was putting her back to sleep. Varsha wanted to go outside the closed doors, as her father had forced Asha to sing. Varsha had become used to her father's routine. Varsha confessed to deleting memories of her dad and said:

"Later, I learned that that was a routine day in the life of my father: guarding Aai against all impediment which may have prevented her from singing for their supper. I have erased my father from my memory, and with him, some of my own childhood: a defence mechanism, people call it. From the sordid tales I hear from our old cook, I must have desperately needed to do it. Suffice to say that it is the stuff which has fed scriptwriters and novelists from time immemorial, of indignities heaped upon submissive womanhood."

Varsha Bhosle remembered scoring decent marks with minimum attendance at college

Varsha had further mentioned that she had left her life in the hands of destiny. She was happy to have scored decent marks after a bare minimum attendance, and deal with her political science department teacher, Mrs Dossal at Elphinstone College, Mumbai. Varsha revealed that her teacher was strict and had a temper. She recalled how her teacher knew the home environment of Varsha, who had shared:

"I can well imagine how you managed to get these marks. It's no big secret what can be bought and sold. I know what kind of a family you come from. Miss a single lecture, and we'll see. Besides, it has never needed a genius to pass bona fide our university exams without attending lectures. At that time, I found it hard to believe that her rage may have been goaded by envy, pettiness or prejudice. Against what, and against whom?"

Varsha Bhosle died by suicide in 2012 and was undergoing psychiatric treatment

It was in the year 2012 when Asha Bhosle's daughter, Varsha, shot herself with a licensed gun at her South Mumbai home. A report by India Today revealed that her body was found by her maid and her driver. Varsha had a history of depression for a very long time and had tried to commit suicide many times in the past. It was on October 8, 2012, that she took her life at her residence.

Varsha Bhosle had attempted suicide in the past

For the unversed, Varsha was married to Hemant Kenkre, who has been a famous sports journalist in India. He has been known for covering cricket and media analysis. Varsha and Hemant's relationship was not smooth, as it had faced difficulties. Before the demise of Varsha, both of them reportedly stayed separately. As per reports on the social media, Varsha was 56 when she took her life. Her family had claimed that her earlier attempts at suicide were actually because of the adverse reactions of the medicines she used to take.
