For those who don't know, Arijit had started his singing under his mother's influence. We remember in an interview with The Times of India, Arijit had revealed that his training in music had started from his home as his mother used to sing. He had shared, "My training in music started from my house because my grandmother used to sing, my mausi sings Indian classical music, my mama plays the table and my mother still sings. I was a decent student but cared more about music. After a point in time, I was not eligible to compete in any music competitions since I would invariably win it."
In the same interview, Arijit had revealed the food he loves and how his mother always keeps it ready whenever he is back to his home. The singer had said, "Anything Bengali. I like my maacher jhol and mishtis. But nothing can beat alu seddo, daal, bhaat and alu posto. My mom keeps it ready when I am home."
