A while back, the soulful voice of an entire generation, Arijit, in an abrupt and emotional post, revealed of retiring as a playback vocalist. Arijit has left his fans in disbelief as his voice has defined an era of music lovers. Now, amid his retirement announcement, Arijit's old statement on saying 'chala jaunga' has surfaced on social media.
Arijit Singh has left his fans in tears as he announced his retirement as a playback singer. Now, an old interview clip of the singer has gone viral where the reporter asked him, "Kayi baar aap keh dete hai mai chala jaunga". Arijit, as seen in the clip, seemed to be at an event, had a different look, and was laughing at the question. The singer looked puzzled and, clarifying on what he meant by 'chala jaunga', he quipped:
"Chala jaunga matlab. Jaunga kaha. Yahi pe rehna hai."

Arijit Singh's voice hurts more than a breakup. The singer who has crooned blockbuster melodies once revealed that there was a time when people hated his original voice, and hence, he had to change it. The singer confessed that he had to sculpt his voice as his fans did not like his original voice. He did admit that he tortured his voice and, in an interview with the Music Podcast, shared:
"Maine toh apne voice ko toda hai, mera voice thodi aisa tha pehle. Mera voice alag hi tha. Who voice back karne ke liye mujhe 2-3 mahina saab chor dena parega, but people hated that voice. Maine jab uss voice mai ganna shuru kia tha, people didn’t like that voice at all. So, I had to change my voice, to kind of cut through. Gale ko tod tod ke textures banaya hai maine. It’s almost like sculpting your voice."

Arijit reportedly had many projects lined up for the year. He shared that he would not be taking any new playback assignments going forward. Arijit first announced his decision to retire from playback singing on his private X account, then released a detailed statement on Instagram. Expressing gratitude to his fans, Arijit's statement read:
"Greetings, Happy New Year to everyone. I want to extend my gratitude for the immense love you have shown me over the years as listeners. I am pleased to share that I will not be accepting any new projects as a playback singer moving forward. I am putting an end to this chapter. It has been an incredible journey."

Tum Hi Ho singer, Arijit, shared that his decision was not made in impulse or due to some particular incident. He revealed that there were multiple factors, and he has been contemplating this for quite some time. He did muster the necessary courage and, in a straightforward manner, citing one of the reasons, Arijit penned:

"I tend to lose interest quickly, which is why I frequently alter the arrangements of my songs and perform them live." He then made a striking admission: “So, here’s the truth: I’ve grown weary. I need to explore different music to thrive. Another factor is my eagerness to hear new singers who can inspire me genuinely."
