Archana Puran Singh Talks About Her 'Fake Laughter' On The Kapil Sharma Show, 'This Woman Is Mad'

Actress Archana Puran Singh is one of the most loved celebrities, who is hailed for her heartiest laughter. It was in 2019 when Archana entered The Kapil Sharma Show as a judge, and since then, she has been a permanent part of the show. Archana is often called out for faking her laughter on the show. In a recent media interaction, she opened up about fake-laugh on bad jokes.

As per a report in the Indian Express, Archana talked about her fake laughter on the show and shared that she no longer laughs at bad jokes. Revealing how people perceived her as mad, Archana shared:

“Now you’ll see, in the last three years, since we are doing the show, and especially now when we are on Netflix… Earlier people used to say that I laughed at bad jokes as well, I was not happy with it. What used to happen then is that if a particular joke didn’t have the punch, they (the makers) thought that if we use Archana’s laughter then woh punch utth jaayega, but it didn’t work that way, woh punch nahi utha, but main hi baith gayi. People started to think, ‘this woman is mad, she is laughing for nothing. The integrity of my laughter took the beating.”

In the same interaction, Archana also shared that editors would patch her laughter on poor jokes. Archana also recalled people asking her how she could laugh at every joke. Elaborating on the same, she stated:

“Someone even asked me how I’m laughing at it. But it was the edit… you guys are aware how one can do anything on edit. They were very creative, they would place my laughter everywhere.”

Archana Puran Singh started her career with the 1987 movie, Abhishek. During the initial phase of her career, Archana starred in films like Jalwa, Agneepath, Saudagar, Shola Aur Shabnam, Aashiq Awara, and Raja Hindustani. She became a television anchor with the show Wah Kya Scene Hai. Archana appeared as a judge on comedy shows like Comedy Circus in 2008.

When Archana Puran Singh had to laugh after her mother-in-law’s death

Archana, who is known for laughing her heart out, sometimes finds her job as baggage. In an interview with ETimes TV, Archana opened up about the tough time she had faced during the shooting of Comedy Circus. It was during that time when she got to know about her mother-in-law's demise, and the production team asked her to give a few reactions and leave. Recalling the traumatic moment, she shared:

“The production house asked me to give the reactions and go. The reactions were laughter and I gave general comments. I still can’t forget I was sitting there laughing and laughing and I was blank in the head. All I could think of was seeing my mother-in-law’s face. It was a traumatic time."

On the work front, Archana Puran Singh is looking forward to The Kapil Sharma Show, which will be available on Netflix from March 30, 2024.
