Salim Khan is a prominent name in the Hindi film industry. He is best known for writing screenplays for several Bollywood films, including the blockbuster hits Zanjeer, Sholay, and Deewar. Salim Khan is better known as one half of the Salim-Javed duo, the other half is Javed Akhtar. Apart from his professional life, Salim Khan's personal life has often made headlines.
Recently, in Amazon Prime's docu-series, Angry Young Men, Salim Khan talked about his two marriages. For the uninitiated, the screenwriter first married Salma Khan (Sushila Charak) in 1964. He welcomed his children, Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail and Alvira, with her in the following years. Later, Salim Khan tied the knot with popular actress, Helen in 1981.

In one of the episodes of Angry Young Men, Helen recalled meeting with Salim Khan. She shared that they first crossed paths when they were shooting Kabli Khan, which was released in 1963. However, they never talked to each other on the set of that film. Sharing that they truly met on the sets of Salim-Javed's 1978 film, Don, Helen added:
"We were shooting for the film Kabli Khan. He was the villain, and I was the heroine. I can’t imagine Salim Sahab as a villain. We never talked to each other on the set of that film. The first time I really met him was during Don."
Further, the screenwriter, Salim Khan, shared how they got acquainted with one another on the sets of Don, which stars Amitabh Bachchan. He revealed that the veteran actress would come over, and they would have a drink together. While answering how he fell in love with Helen, Salim Khan said:
"After the day’s shooting, Helen would come over, and we would have a drink together, and then she would leave. Pyaar toh apne agar kiya hoga toh pata lagega."

In the same episode, Arbaaz Khan discussed how they accepted Helen as their father's second wife and talked about the bond between their mother, Salma Khan, and Helen. He revealed that their mother never said anything about their father or Helen. Arbaaz was quoted as saying:
"My mother never influenced us to think or say anything against our father. She had her troubles, but she never influenced us to think, ‘Your dad is like this,’ or, ‘This is what he is doing.’ Never."
Salim Khan disclosed that he sat all of his children and explained to them that he was in love with their 'Helen aunty'. He mentioned that he had told his children that they would understand his love for Helen once they were all grown up. Moreover, Salim Khan demanded that his children respect Helen, if not love her like their mother, Salma Khan.
Furthermore, Arbaaz Khan shared that they all still call Helen 'aunty' even though they treat her like their own mother. Meanwhile, the actor-turned-producer also added that Salma Khan always makes sure that Helen is a part of everything in their lives. He was quoted as saying:
"We still call her aunty because she was Helen aunty at that time. Though we treat her as a mother, we call her Helen aunty. She is part of our lives. More than us, my mom ensures that she is part of everything."
