AR Rahman has been leading the headlines for all wrong reasons ever since he announced his separation from his wife, Saira Banu. They were together for 29 years, before they decided to part ways. While the family have requested privacy, people and trollers are eager to know what went wrong. Some even raised eyebrows at AR Rahman and his bassist, Mohini Dey, announcing their divorce within just hours. However, it was AR Rahman creating a hashtag for his divorce that left everyone shocked.
There is a saying that people forget all the good you do with your one move (that displeases them). AR Rahman has been going through the same, as years of his hard work went downhill. People started putting dirt on AR Rahman for the usage of 'ARSairaBreakup' hashtag in his divorce announcement. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Vandana Shah, his divorce lawyer, Vanda Shah defended him.

Talking about AR Rahman being trolled for using a hashtag, Vandana added that she later realised the reason for the hashtag. However, they used it as people have stopped using semicolan and all. She added that it holds no importance and was quoted as saying:
"I’ve noticed that there’s a reason a hashtag is known as a hashtag. When you look at the larger scheme of things in grammar, there’s always a comma, a full stop, and even a semicolon. Though that feels like an afterthought these days. Hardly anyone uses the term ‘semicolon’ anymore, and very few people give it much importance. Similarly, a hashtag is what it is—a hashtag—and it holds no real significance. I believe it should be treated with the same kind of disregard. As if to say you’re just a hashtag, set aside. Over the last couple of days, this sentiment has only been reinforced for me."
In an interview with the ANI, Vandana Shah talked about AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu's divorce proceedings. She claimed that they are not yet divorced but are in the process of it. Vandana further added that it would definitely be an amicable divorce. When questioned about the reason behind AR Rahman's divorce, Vandana denied giving out details. However, she added that they are partying ways due to significant emotional strain in their relationship.
Vandana further added that the estranged couple released a statement in the media so that nobody speculated. Hinting at people's absurd way of connecting AR Rahman's separation news to his bassist, Mohini Dey, Vandana added that it is stupid of people to link them together.

"Yeh jo dusri unki colleague hai jinka divorce ho raha hai, kya hai yeh. Yeh kaisa rumour bhi kisne soch liya, it is such a load of nonsense. Mai ek legal term use krna chahti hoon I would like to treat it with contempt, jo logo aise mudde utha rahe hai."
