AR Rahman, the most celebrated singing maestro, has been going through a difficult phase personally as his wife, Saira Banu has parted ways from it. This comes as a shock as AR Rahman always looked like a family man, but after 29 years of togetherness, their relationship came to an end, and according to Saira Banu's lawyer she has been going through a lot of pain and agony.
In a media statement to India Today, Saira Banu's lawyer discussed their marriage. The lawyer revealed that Saira made the difficult decision to part ways with AR Rahman. The lawyer further added that it wasn't easy, as she had taken the step after significant emotional strain.
Saira Banu's lawyer further added that while they are still in love, the tensions and difficulties they have gone through have created a huge gap, which is hard to bridge. The statement can be read as:
"After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. A R. Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time."
Further, in the statement released by Mrs. Saira's lawyer, it was revealed that she was in a lot of pain and agony. In these difficult times, she wants privacy from the public as she is trying to navigate through this challenging chapter of her life. The statement concluded with:
"Mrs. Saira emphasised that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life."
AR Rahman married Saira Banu in 1995. They had an arranged marriage, and AR Rahman's mother fixed the match with Saira. However, AR Rahman added that he didn't have time to find a bride himself, so he chose to marry in an arranged marriage. In a chat with Simi Garewal, AR Rahman said:

"To be honest, I didn’t have time to go and search for a bride. I was doing all these films and Rangeela in Bombay so I was so busy in that. But, I knew it was the right time for me to get married. I was 29 and I told my mother. I said, 'find me a bride'."
AR Rahman also revealed that his only wish was to get a simple woman. He only wanted someone who would not make much trouble for him and would continue to carry his music. The ex-couple is blessed with two daughters and a son.
