However, once rumours were rife that Anushka was dating her Band Baja Baaraat co-star, Ranveer Singh. But neither of them ever accepted or denied the speculations. After their alleged breakup, Ranveer started dating Deepika Padukone, which reportedly led to a brawl between the two actresses. Although rumours of a 'cold war' between them made a lot of noise, they always spoke highly of each other.
Once, in an old interview, a journalist asked Anushka Sharma about her stardom, saying, "You really haven't stirred up the industry as actresses like Deepika and Sonam have. Why?" Responding to it, the actress said that she had given three back-to-back hits in three years and is known for her talent. Taking a dig at her fellow actresses, Anushka said:

"I don't know. You tell me. Having given three hits back-to-back in three years, I wonder why there is not as much hype about me as them. Actually, I am glad that I am known for my talent and not for my clothes or controversies."
Anushka Sharma's old interview was shared on Reddit and caught a lot of attention. Soon after, many social media users flooded the comments section with their reactions. The netizens slammed Anushka for boasting about her achievements and showing her 'pick-me' attitude. A user penned, "Says the person who has been relevant only thanks to her relationship for ages." In a 2013 interview with the Hindustan Times, Anushka Sharma opened up about the rumours of the 'cold war' between her and Deepika Padukone. The actress compared the rumours to the 'dominos effect' and called them all cooked-up stories and nothing else. Refuting the claims of her rivalry with Deepika, Anushka elaborated:
“I have no problems with Deepika or anyone. I am here to work and not indulge into fights. I am happy with what I am doing and she would happy with her life. And all reports around us are false. It’s all like a dominos effect; just to cook up a story… there will be a series of lies to gossip about me. So basically its wrong the way women are perceived in this industry.”

Anushka and Ranveer formed a good friendship and were often spotted together at various events. However, they parted ways due to reasons best known to them. Back in 2013, Ranveer was asked about his bond with Anushka, and he admitted that they didn't talk like before as a distance had grown between them.
Fast forward to today, Anushka Sharma is happily married to Virat Kohli, and they have two children, Vamika and Akaay. On the other hand, Ranveer tied the knot with Deepika Padukone, and they will embrace parenthood in September 2024.
