Anurag Basu Finally Opened Up About Triptii Dimri's Exit From 'Aashiqui 3', Says, 'Not Even The...'

Anurag Basu is a director, screenwriter, actor and producer who is best known for tackling the themes of passion, envy and adultery in his films. The filmmaker made a big breakthrough in the entertainment industry with his 2004 erotic thriller, Murder. He has since given the film fraternity some of the most spectacular works, including Barfi!, Gangster: A Love Story, Life in a...Metro and Aashiqui, among others.

Filmmaker, Anurag Basu is all set to start the filming of his next film, Aashiqui 3, starring Kartik Aaryan. However, the film finds itself in the middle of some big chaos and drama as rumours related to the cast go rife. It was earlier reported that Triptii Dimri would be seen alongside Kartik in the role of the female lead, but soon after, the rumours had it that the actress was removed from the film. Now, weeks after the speculations began, the filmmaker has cleared what actually went down. 

Anurag Basu recently sat for a conversation with HT City and revealed that Triptii's image had nothing to do with her casting. He added that he was the last person to judge someone based on the characters they have played in the past. The filmmaker also made a shocking revelation that Aashiqui was no longer the story of the film. He was quoted saying: 

"Image was not the reason. I am the last person to judge an actor on the basis of the other characters they have played on screen. Aashiqui was not even the story anymore... I don’t know the source of these stories which came out."

When asked about why Triptii was not a part of the film anymore, Anurag Basu clarified that it was because of the dates. He revealed that the actress was shooting a film already and his film too goes on the floor in February itself. Anurag called Triptii his best friend and stated that he really likes her as an actress. He stated:

"Most important thing is dates. Triptii is shooting for a film with Vishal Bhardwaj, and my film goes on floors this month too. She is still my best friend, I really like her as an actress. You should ask her too what happened."

In the same conversation, Anurag Basu revealed that his film which was supposedly titled, Aashiqui 3 underwent some major changes and was no longer being made under the same title. He added that while he didn't know what to call his film yet, the shoot would start soon. He also shared that the female lead for the film was not finalisied. He stated:

"I don’t know what’s the film called right now, the shoot starts this month. We have not finalised the female lead right now, it will be announced in a week."

It was reported that Triptii Dimri would no longer be a part of Aashiqui 3, a while back. The rumours on social media began to spread that the actress was removed from the film because had become 'too exposed' for a role that required 'innocence in its demeanour'. It was also suggested that her bold image in Animal made it hard for her to fit in Aashiqui 3.
