Anupam Kher Shares Cousin's Message From Jammu As India Neutralises Pak Drones, 'Our Protection...'

Veteran actor, Anupam Kher, shared a deeply moving message from his cousin in Jammu following Pakistan’s failed aerial attack on multiple Indian locations. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter), the actor added a video clip of last night's air strike along with a powerful message that struck a chord with netizens. Kher also shared how his cousin assured him of the safety of Jammu residents amid the ongoing warfare.

Anupam Kher recalls his anxious call with his cousin from Jammu

In the late hours of May 8, 2025, the world witnessed a historic moment as India’s S-400 air defence system successfully intercepted and neutralised Pakistani drones and missiles before they could cause any damage. Amid all these, Anupam Kher revealed that his cousin, Sunil Kher, had sent him a video from his home in Jammu. Concerned, the actor immediately called to check on his safety. Taking to his X handle, Anupam shared the video with a caption that read:

“My cousin brother Sunil Kher sent this video from his home in Jammu. I immediately called and asked if he and his family were okay. He laughed a little proudly and said, ‘Bhaiya! We are in India! We are Indians. Our protection is being taken care of by the Indian Army and Mata Vaishno Devi. You don’t worry. Anyway, we’re not letting a single missile touch the ground here.’ Jai Mata Di! Bharat Mata Ki Jai!"

Anupam Kher praises the Indian defence force after ‘Operation Sindoor’

India’s swift and decisive countermeasure, which continued into the early hours of May 9, 2025, came less than 24 hours after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on the night of May 7–8, 2025. The precision strike specifically targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), in retaliation for the brutal Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, claiming the lives of 26 innocent tourists. In an interview with ANI, Anupam Kher hailed the mission, stating:

“Operation Sindoor is the proof that anyone who dares to threaten us will face a strong response.”

The veteran actor further praised the leadership of women officers like Sofiya Qureshi and Vyomika Singh, who led the national briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’. Sharing the pride he felt in these women, Anupam shared:

“Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh… Watching them filled me with pride. These women showed the enemy what India is capable of… Let this also be a warning to those who try to twist the truth or speak negatively… the people of India will not tolerate those who try to divide or mislead.”

Pakistan’s failed aerial strike and India’s swift response

In the late hours of Thursday, May 8, 2025, reacting to ‘Operation Sindoor’, Pakistan attempted to escalate its ongoing tensions with India by launching multiple drones and missiles toward Jammu civil airport, RS Pura, Arnia, and military stations. However, India’s air defence forces successfully neutralised all threats without any casualties, thanks to the country’s robust surveillance and counter-strike abilities.
