Anupam Kher is one of the most loved actors in the industry and has been actively working for several decades. While on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Anupam Kher was seen pouring his heart out about his father, Pushkarnath Kher and mother, Dulari Kher. Kher shared details about his history with Kirron Kher, and so much more. But what caught everyone’s attention was when Anupam shared his post-success struggles during the years 2003 to 2004.
During the years 2003 to 2004, Anupam almost went bankrupt trying to make his name in the television industry. Even with success in movies like Saaransh, Ram Lakhan and Dil, Kher almost lost his home and office because of some financial difficulties. He shared with Shubhankar that:

“In my attempt to become a TV tycoon, I almost went bankrupt in 2003-2004. At that time, I was already established and doing good films, but both my office and house were on the verge of being sold.”
Further talking about his hardships, Kher revealed that he used to visit a temple, back when he was still a struggling actor, and how he had not visited the temple in a while. But when the actor decided to drive himself to the temple, his car got stolen while he was praying. Elaborating on the incident, the actor stated:
“One day I remembered how, as a struggling actor, I would go to the Mahalakshmi temple to pray for success. But once I became an actor, I stopped going. I thought God was upset with me, and that’s why my bad days had come. I don’t enjoy driving much, but I drove myself to the temple that day. I left the car running and stepped out to pray. Just as I bent down to pray, I saw a thief driving away with my car.”
The actor was distraught seeing his car being driven away, he took an auto in an attempt to get his car back, but when that failed, Kher went straight to the police station. When the cops heard about the details of the robbery, could not stop themselves from laughing uncontrollably. Anupam quoted the incident as:
“I quickly hailed an auto and asked the driver to follow the car, but we couldn’t catch up. So I told him to take me to a police station instead. When I explained to the police how I lost my car, they couldn’t stop laughing. They were rolling on the floor, saying they couldn’t believe something like this could happen in real life. It felt like a scene straight out of a movie to them.”
