Anupam Kher is a renowned actor in the Bollywood film industry. Recently, the veteran actor made headlines for his film, Metro In Dino. Moving on to his personal life, he is married to the popular actress, Kirron Kher. Both the actors were earlier married to different partners, and from the previous marriage, Kirron has a son, Sikander. Over the years, Anupam never felt any need to have his own child and embraced his step-son, Sikander. However, in 2024, Anupam revealed that he felt a void of not having a biological child. In a recent interview, he revealed what had previously obstructed him from embracing parenthood.
In a recent podcast, Anupam had a heartfelt conversation with Raj Shamani, sharing that he is very fond of children. During the conversation, the veteran actor was asked about his statement regarding feeling void for not having his own kid, who would have grown up in front of his eyes. In response, Anupam said that he realised it when he hit the age of 60. He also shared that he is very fond of children. In his words:
"I do a lot of work with children. My foundation does a lot of work. I am fond of children. I used to do a show called ‘Say na something to Anupam uncle’ which was a children’s show. So somebody asked me, ‘do you feel this?’ I said yeah and it’s the truth."
In the same conversation, Anupam was asked why he had decided not to have children. In response, the veteran actor shared that it didn’t happen immediately. He revealed that his wife, Kirron, couldn’t conceive, and once when she conceived, she had complications. He also shared that Sikander was just 4, when he married Kirron, and thus he never felt anything missing in his life. In his words:
"So it didn’t happen at first. Kirron could not conceive it and then once she conceived, she had to.. sort of… it was not growing in the right manner. I was too busy making it big. I was too busy aur Sikandar acha… abhi bhi acha hai Sikander mere liye. He was 4 when he came into my life, when I married Kirron so I never felt anything missing."
Earlier in an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Anupam shared that it is always a joy to see a child grow. He also shared that although he never felt the joy of seeing a child growing up, he is happy with Sikander. Sharing his feelings, Anupam said:
"It’s not like, I am not happy with Sikander, but I think it’s a joy to see a child growing up. Its a joy to see bonding and this is an honest answer to you. I could have avoided to answer this, but I don’t want to do that. But, it’s okay. It’s not a tragedy in my life. But, I sometimes feel it would have been a nice thing."
