Well, she was the one to find out about Anup's infidelity even before his confession. Anup and Ritu first met in 1998, when she was working as a fresher with Lintas. Anup had his endorsement with the company, and she was handling the actor's account. The duo first began as friends, and after that, something bloomed in them. Anup and Ritu didn't have formal proposals or something, but they got married the next year, in 1999.

Talking about Anup Soni's first wife, Ritu, she is from an Air Force family and her dad is an Air Force officer. After completing her graduation from St Francis in Hyderabad, Ritu moved to Pune and pursued an MBA from Symbiosis. Later, she got employed with Lintas. After her marriage to Anup, Ritu founded Footspring Information Systems, which is a software company. When she was pregnant, Ritu decided to be back with her 9-5 job, and after a year of break and after the same, she launched her own company. Anup Soni, talking to the Telegraph, revealed that during their marital life, they had their fair share of fights. Anup said:

"We do have our occasional fights. But when you are living under the same roof how long can you ignore each other? What matters is how one reacts to a particular situation. We usually come around on our own when we realise where the quirks lie. But when she is angry, Ritu becomes Ritu Duggal."

In an interview with the Telegraph, Ritu once revealed that her family wanted her to get married to a business family. Well, they later came to terms with Anup and Ritu's love for each other and their wish to stay forever with each other. She also added that the first six months of their wedding were tough as they had several fights, but later, they decided that they wouldn't sleep over a fight, and that's how things got better eventually. Ritu said:

"My parents were not keen on me getting married into a business family, leave alone the fact that the guy was an actor. But at the end it really didn't matter. The first six months after marriage, it was kind of tough. There would be frequent arguments and fights. We had a deal then. That we wouldn't sleep over a fight. We stuck to it for a long time. Now the story's changed."

Reportedly, Ritu felt something changed in Anup's behaviour after 6 years into their marital life, and later, her intuition turned out to be true as Anup was reportedly cheating on her with Raj Babbar's daughter, Juhi Babbar. A source back then revealed to TOI that Ritu ordered Anup’s itemised mobile bills, and it was revealed that the actor remained engaged with Juhi over the phone for a large portion of the day.

When Ritu confronted Juhi, she said that they were connected through the phone. Later, Anup confessed to Ritu that he had been with Juhi for quite some time and had even spent several weekends with her in Pune. Reportedly, he also told Ritu that he wouldn't be able to take their daughters' responsibility. Well, it was in 2010, when Ritu and Anup got divorced.
