Anil Sharma Hits Back At Ameesha Patel For Her Withering Remark, Says, 'Main Keechad Mein Patthar..'

Ameesha Patel and the director of the film, Gadar 2, Anil Sharma, have been engaging in a very public feud since the release of their film in 2023. The war of words started when Ameesha revealed that she was dismayed with the way the character was portrayed in the film. Now, after a long silence, the filmmaker, Anil, addressed her remarks in an interview with Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel.

Anil Sharma responds to Ameesha Patel's scathing remarks

Anil Sharma, during his interview with Vickey Lalwani, was informed that Ameesha, during one of her interviews, had made a remark about the film. She stated that Gadar, as a brand, revolved solely around her character 'Sakina', Sunny Deol's 'Tara Singh', and Utkarsh Sharma's 'Charanjeet'. However, the actress excluded the director from the list. Now, Anil has responded to the same and said:

"Unke mann mein jo hai unhe kehne do. Har insaan apni baat rakhne ke liye free hai. Unko lagta hai aisa hai toh aisa hai. Main keechad mein patthar nahi fekta"

Anil Sharma calls Ameesha Patel moody

In the same conversation, Anil Sharma admitted that he considered Ameesha Patel his family, but that has not changed. He recalled that the actress was new in the industry and would visit his home on a regular basis for over six months. He described Ameesha as a very hardworking person who would sit with him for 5-6 hours. 

During the conversation, he also acknowledged Ameesha's success and stated that he had seen her during that phase as well. Anil pointed out that the actress came from a wealthy family and that children from such backgrounds often tend to be a bit moody. He also added that her background was one of the reasons why he chose Ameesha for the role of 'Sakina'. Making the observation, Anil stated:

"I mean, she comes from a wealthy background. Whenever she came for rehearsals, she wore a solitaire ring and arrived in a Rs. 1 crore Mercedes, a chauffeur-driven car. She worked very hard to become Sakina, but she always had a certain aura, which she still has today. Girls from wealthy families have a certain attitude and a distinct way of walking. But she is very soft-spoken and well-mannered." 

Anil Sharma on changing the film's climax

Anil Sharma further addressed Ameesha's claims about changing the film's climax. He revealed that any changes he made were for the right reasons and for the betterment of the film. He added that, as a director, he was responsible for the film rather than any individual actor. He also stressed that if the film succeeds, everyone is credited, but when a film fails, the director bears all the blame. He added that if Gadar 2 had not performed well, all the criticism would have been directed at him.

Gadar 2 was directed by Anil Sharma and starred, Ameesha Patel, Sunny Deol, Utkarash Sharma, and Simrat Kaur in lead roles. For the unversed, Anil had tried to keep the original cast and to maintain the essence of the 2001 film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. The film was a commercial success and became one of the highest-grossing films in 2023.
