Filmmaker, Anil Sharma, revealed how he was the only one in the film fraternity who did not fire global icon, Priyanka Chopra after her nose surgery went wrong. He added that he was the one who had helped PeeCee get her career back on track. Anil also shared that after Priyanka's nose surgery went wrong, she almost decided to quit the film industry and leave Mumbai for good. During the interview, he shared that Priyanka's botched surgery had left her with a misshapen nose, which resulted in several filmmakers dropping her out of films.
Anil Sharma sat for a chat with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, where they discussed a spectrum of topics under the B-Town sun. During the chat, he revealed that he had heard about Priyanka Chopra's surgery. He shared that he was under the impression that the actress had gotten the elective surgery to look like the Hollywood actress, Julia Roberts. He stated:
"I read somewhere that she did so to look like Julia Roberts so I scolded her also. Then she told me that I had it all wrong. She had an issue with her nose, it was a medical operation that went bad so it wasn’t her fault."
Anil Sharma recalled that he had given Priyanka a signing token of Rs. 5 lakhs, and she had come to return it after everyone kept on firing her for her botched nose surgery. He revealed that PeeCee had almost decided to leave Mumbai for a year so she could recover back in Bareily, but he stopped her. He revealed:
"Maine Priyanka ko bulaaya. Aur maine usko paach lakh ka Token diya hua tha. Toh vo aai, paach lakh ka cheque lekar. unhoney kaha, 'humko toh sabne nikaal diya hum toh Bareilly jaa rahe hai kal, bas aaphi ka intezaar kar rahe the'. Mai Canada se aaya tha. Toh maine kaha ye cheque aap apne paas rakho. Unhoney kaha pitaji toh already Bareilly chaley gaye hai, unhoney army join kar li hai waha par phir se. Unki maa bhi doctor hai, toh vo bhi boli jaakey apka practice shuru karu. Isko toh ek deydh saal lagega theek honey mei, phir hum aainge. Yaha bhaada de rahe hai, kya faaida. Toh maine kaha nahi aap ruko."
In the same conversation, Anil Sharma further revealed that he recognised Priyanka Chopra's potential and decided to help her. He called the veteran make-up artist who used to work at YRF and asked him to help with Priyanka's nose. Anil added that after the makeup was done, they worked on her costumes with Neeta Lulla, and then again, he took a screen test. He stated:
"Phir maine Pandri da ko phone kiya. Vo Yash Raj k yaha...vo sabse best makeup man the. Unko ittefaq ki baat thi, Priyanka ka lunch tha ki vo ushi waqt aa gaye. Toh maine kaha inka naak thoda theek kar saktey ho makeup se. Toh unhoney kaha theek hai phir maine screen test liya. Phir kuch din baad vo CD maine bheji sab jagha toh sabne bola 'Yeh kaun ladki hai?' Toh maine kaha Priyanka hai. Toh bas ho gaya."
