D'Angelo Was Overwhelmed As His Former Girlfriend, Angie Stone, Passed Away Only A Few Months Back

D'Angelo was an American singer, songwriter, and producer famous for his contributions to Neo-Soul, a genre from the 1990s and 2000s that blends R&B with other genres, including hip-hop and jazz. It was on October 14, 2025, when D'Angelo's family confirmed his passing, while sharing that he had been battling cancer for a long time. D'Angelo's passing left the industry in grief. For the unversed, D'Angelo had a relationship with Angie Stone, and they have a son, whom they welcomed out of wedlock. Well, it was only a few months ago when D'Angelo's former girlfriend, Angie Stone, tragically passed away.

D'Angelo and Angie Stone's romantic relationship reportedly began in the 1990s, when the former was launching his music career. Angie was already a well-established artist by then. Reportedly, she helped him in his creative ventures, and if the reports are to be believed, she was the inspiration and influence for his debut album, Brown Sugar. D'Angelo and Angie never got married, but welcomed their son, Michael D’Angelo Archer II, in 1998.

Apart from him, D'Angelo has two kids, a daughter and another son, as reported. While the duo broke up in 1999, they maintained a close bond based on their professional collaboration. For the unversed, it was only a few months ago that Angie Stone passed away. According to Page Six, Stone passed away at the age 63, in a car crash. As per a report by Fox 5, a lawsuit provided details about Stone's passing. If the report is to be believed, Stone was riding a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van as she was returning home from a performance with her bandmates, when the driver lost control and flipped the car over.

The same report further added that when the van flipped, a passerby helped 5 of the 9 passengers to crawl out. As per another report by AP, Angie Stone was one of them and was about to survive, but destiny had other plans. When she was reportedly trying to crawl out, an 18-wheeler with a heavy load further slammed the van, ejecting the singer and pinning her under it, thereby causing her death.

D'Angelo passed away on October 14, 2025, and his family confirmed the same. After his death, sources revealed to PEOPLE that he was devastated by the passing of his former girlfriend, Angie Stone. As per the source, he couldn't even make it to her funeral as he was totally devastated. As per the source, it so happened that they had moved on in their lives, following their breakup, but the idea of them passing away in the same year is truly sad. The same source also revealed that while they parted ways, they always remained tied as the pop-culture couple. As per the source:

"He never arrived at her funeral service. He was extremely overwhelmed. They’d moved on with their lives romantically of course, but the idea that both of them would be gone within the same year is sad. They were forever tied as this pop culture couple."
