Sanjay Bangar's daughter, Anaya Bangar sat down in an interview with Saurabh Dwivedi on April 17, 2025, and it has sent shockwaves across the cricket fraternity. Everyone knows Sanjay Bangar is one of the most loved commentators in the history of Indian cricket. He is also the head of cricket development for the IPL franchise, Punjab Kings. He played for the national team in Tests and ODIs during his younger days.
After playing for 20 years, Sanjay Bangar retired from cricket and built an unmatchable legacy as a commentator in world cricket. It was in 2019 that he began his journey as a commentator, but even in his wildest dreams, he never thought that one day he would become one of the greatest voices in cricket's history. Talking about his personal life, Sanjay is married to a woman named Neha Bangar, and they have a daughter named, Anaya.
Sanjay Bangar's daughter, Anaya Bangar, was invited on Saurabh Dwivedi's YouTube channel, Lallantop, for a heart-to-heart conversation. During the conversation, Anaya opened up about the 'toxic masculinity' in the cricket world. She admitted that she has been harassed by senior cricketers many times in her life. From sending her nudes to telling her that they want to sleep with her, Anaya made some chilling revelations about the cricket world.
What's even more disturbing is that when Anaya reached out to senior cricketers for help, they also harassed her. Instead of helping her, they used to make sexual advances. Although she didn't take any names during the interview, it was heartbreaking to hear such things about cricket, which is nothing less than a religion for Indians.
Although she didn't take any names, Anaya Bangar revealed that some incidents occurred during her training at Yeshvi Cricket Academy in Pune. When Anaya Bangar was asked why she never exposed the cricketers who harassed her with these inhuman antics, she revealed that she had no choice but to keep her silence because she is the daughter of the iconic commentator, Sanjay Bangar. She said:

"There have been a few cricketers who randomly sent me nude pictures of themselves. I told a puraane (senior) cricketer about my situation. He told me 'Let's go in your car, I want to sleep with you'."
In the same conversation, Anaya Bangar also discussed her journey from being a boy named Aryan to living her life as a girl. She was born on December 26, 2000, and completed her schooling from Mumbai's Don Bosco High School. For graduation, she took admission to Rizvi College in Mumbai, and from childhood, she had always wanted to become a cricketer. Anaya was born a boy, and her parents chose the name, Aryan for her. She joined the Mumbai Cricket Association with the dream of following in her father's footsteps, Sanjay Bangar.
In the following years, Anaya Bangar trained at various academies and cricket clubs, including the Cricket Association of Pondicherry, and played games in the UK for Leicestershire, Islam Gymkhana, Hinckley Cricket Club, and several other clubs. During her younger days, Anaya played with players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Musheer Khan. However, as she grew up, she began to experience something different about her gender. Anaya used to question whether she was of the wrong gender because, at the age of 8, she loved wearing her mother's sarees. As time passed, she realised it and said, "Then, I used to look into the mirror and say, 'I am a girl. I want to be a girl".
Once, in an old Instagram post, Sanjay Bangar's daughter, Anaya Bangar revealed that when she decided to opt for the Hormone Replacement Surgery (HRT), her body changed drastically. Anaya lost a lot of muscle mass and athletic abilities of a male, and it became tougher for her physically to put in the same amount of effort which she used to deliver before the surgery. As time passed, her dream of becoming a cricketer slipped away from her hand. As life moved on, she developed an interest in design, and she is now a professional designer. Fast forward to 2025, Anaya is leading a happy life and enjoys a massive fan following of 98.9K followers on Instagram.
