Amrita Rao has been one of the known faces in Bollywood, and is best remembered for being a part of some of the most loved rom-coms in ‘90s. She was tagged as shedding the vibes of the quintessential girl-next-door vibes. Films like Ab Ke Baras, Ishq Vishk, Main Hoon Na, Masti and many others set the bar of her performance like no other. However, it took her iconic film, Vivah, opposite Shahid Kapoor, which set her as a league apart. And recently, she talked about the impact this film had on her life thereafter.
In a recent interaction on Rajshree Productions’ YouTube channel, Amrita Rao talked about the kind of impact on her personal life, after getting immense success post the film, Vivah. She recalled getting several letters and wedding proposals from foreigners residing in the US and Canada, many of whom even sent pictures of their home and family members. She mentioned:
“When Vivah came out, I got these marriage proposals and since we didn’t have that many smartphones back then, I mostly got letters from Canada and the US. They always sent me photos of their house, their mothers and their cars. Back then, I used to laugh at these things. But when I look back on it now, I think of the impact a role has, they just want to marry you. It was so magical.”

In an old interview with The Times Of India, Amrita Rao retrospected on the kind of successes that she has garnered in her career, ever since she made her debut. Despite being an outsider, the actress reached heights of fame within years of her debut. However, she also compared her career graph with the newcomers later on, and expressed now none of them later could achieve such acceptance from the audience like her. She mentioned:
"I have done some unforgettable films that I believe will hold relevance for a very long time. Perhaps many newcomers today haven’t even seen the back-to-back success that I have seen right from the start of my career. My popularity and acceptance was genuine and was not planned through PR and marketing strategies."

Previously, while speaking with Faisal Saif, Amrita Rao talked about her professional choice and preferring to stay away from unnecessary limelight than is required. The diva articulated that since she doesn't have a godfather in the industry, she instead prefers being choosy. Moroever, she emphasised how her choice of not being seen as often doesn't necessarily imply that she is not doing work. Amrita concluded that she has always inclined towards quality than quantity when it comes to films. In her words:
“I don’t follow any Strategy. Since i don’t have any ‘God-Father’ in the Bollywood, So i am very careful then being choosy. I understand that in 2010 my Port-Folio got little disrupted unintentionally and unplanned. But i have not decided that. Like how i didn’t decide that i will sign 3 films this year. There is no intention behind doing lesser work. There was always an intention of doing good work."
