Saif Ali Khan is a popular actor in the film industry who made his way into people's hearts in the late '90s. He is the son of veteran actress, Sharmila Tagore and late cricketer, Mansoor Ali Khan Patudi, who attracted attention for his charming looks, fun attitude and honest personality. Despite Saif's attempt to keep his personal life away from the media, the actor's controversies have often broke the headlines and brought legal trouble for him. One such case was the hotel brawl case in 2012, which continues to be in court.
Malaika Arora's sister, Amrita Arora, recently testified in the court regarding the hotel brawl case involving Saif Ali Khan from 2012. She was one of the witnesses who joined Saif Ali Khan for a meal when the incident took place and saw the scenes unfolded herself. The diva revealed in the court that the businessman, Iqbal Sharma, who was involved in the case, started the brawl. She recalled that their group was enjoying their meal privately when the man shouted at them for being noisy. In her words:
"We saw someone barging into our enclosure and, in a very loud, aggressive voice, told us to shut up and keep quiet. We all got shocked at what was happening."
Amrita added that Saif apologised to the man, who angrily returned to his table. Later, when the Omkara actor went to the washroom, Iqbal barged inside behind him. Everyone at the table heard noises of a violent clash between them and rushed to the scene. They tried to separate them when Iqbal, an NRI, began shouting abuses at them and mentioned that they would have to face serious consequences.
Saif Ali Khan's hotel brawl incident dates back to 2012 when the actor went to have a meal at a private enclosure of a 5-star hotel. He was joined by his now wife, Kareena Kapoor, her sister, Karisma, and their friends, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora, and some male friends. The police accused the actor and his male friends of hurting and fracturing the nose of Iqbal Sharma and hurting his father-in-law, Raman Patel after they objected to the group making loud noises.
However, Saif has always alleged that Iqbal was the one to use provocative words and abusive language against the female members of their group. In the case, Saif and his friends, Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, who had been charged under IPC Section 325 (assault), were arrested and released on bail. The case is still in court due to delayed testimony of key witnesses, and even Amrita appeared after repeated summons. She and Malaika have received a bailable warrant of Rs 5,000 for their frequent unavailability in court.
