Bollywood is renowned for treating its fans with a fresh pairing of the cast with every successive release. Directors are leaving no stone unturned to scourge up the newest pairing of actors, such that the film is nothing less than a blockbuster hit. Moreover, it also leads to the vast number of actors to getting a new experience every time, as they get a chance to work with someone new. Interestingly, such multiplicity in pairing has also led to many pairs of actors portraying two very different natures of characters. Well then, take a look at some of these jodis in Bollywood who have portrayed lovers as well as siblings in different films.

Let’s rewind back in time and take a look at two of the most successful actors of their generation, Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. The duo has done several films together. Interestingly, while in films like Baghbaan, Babul, Veer Zara, Satte Pe Satta, Naseeb among others, where they played the roles of lovers, but it was in the 1973-released film, Gehri Chaal where the duo appeared as siblings for the first time ever.

One of the most gorgeous divas of her generation, Zeenat Aman is best remembered for her iconic pairing with legendary actor, late Dev Anand. The duo, too portrayed lovers as well as siblings through their characters on the celluloid. So, while in films like, Prem Shastra, Warrant, Kalabaaz, Darling Darling, Zeenat and Dev Anand appeared as a romantic couple, it was in the iconic film, Hare Krishna Hare Ram where they featured as a brother and sister.
One of Shah Rukh Khan’s most memorable on-screen pairings has been with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The duo’s chemistry warmed the hearts of their fans, who would dream about their pairing to be every bit realistic. However, while the duo swooned hearts with their romantic roles in films like, Devdas and Mohabbatein, nevertheless, they were amazingly paired as a brother and sister in SRK’s earliest films, Josh.

One more name adding on this unusually paired jodis has been of Kareena Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor. The duo came together as a much-in-love couple in the film, Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai, which went on to become one of the most memorable youth-centric romantic films of the time. But years later, the duo wasagain paired with one another, but this time as a brother and sister in the 2008 film, Golmaal Returns.
Juhi Chawla has been one of the most versatile actresses of her generation. While she has been paired with almost all the top actors of her generation, it is her pairing with Sanjay Suri that went on to create an etch in the hearts of her fans. The duo portrayed a couple in the film, Jhankaar Beats in 2003. Thereafter, they portrayed siblings in the iconic feature film, My Brother Nikhil in 2005.

The pairing of Arjun Rampal and Deepika Padukone was made every bit iconic when they appeared as 'Mukesh Mehra' and 'Shantipriya' in the 2007 film, Om Shanti Om. While Arjun was hailed as the vamp lover in the film, it was Deepika’s portrayal as the innocent damsel that won hearts. Interestingly, their pairing was reprised again in the film, Housefull, but this time the duo joined in to portray a sibling bond with each other.
Making quite an unforeseen pairing, Abhishek Bachchan and Asin Thottumkal received appreciation for their romantic portrayal in the 2015 film, All Is Well. Sadly, as the film did not do well at the box-office, their on-screen chemistry had grabbed eyeballs. However, this was not the first time when they worked together. In fact, a few years earlier in 2012, they portrayed a brother and sister in the film, Bol Bachchan.
Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh have been termed as one of the most hit on-screen jodis in the Hindi film industry. Their fiery chemistry as passionate lovers in films like, Gunday and Bajirao Mastani were high-grossing films of the years. However, they stunned the audience completely when they portrayed siblings in the film, Dil Dhadakne Do.
Bollywood’s favourite bhaijaan, Salman Khan is supremely known for his terrific acting chops. With his acting career spanning across decades, the actor has worked with a vast plethora of actors coming from across generations. But it has been his pairing with actress, Daisy Shah that has remained quite unique, since the duo has enacted roles of lovers as well as siblings. For instance, while Salman and Daisy were paired as siblings in the film, Race 3, they mesmerised their fans as a romantic couple in the film, Jai Ho.
The jodi of Deepika Padukone and John Abraham on-screen boasts about everything being perfectly enviable. With their respective drop-dead gorgeous looks, they set fire to the celluloid quite literally. Interestingly, the duo has been one such pair of actors who have enacted roles of both siblings and lovers. While they played passionate lovers in Desi Boyz, they were later seen as siblings in the film, Race 2.
