The Bachchan family is among the most respected families in the Hindi film industry. The veteran actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, who are counted among the evergreen couples in the industry, live with their kids and grandkids at their mesmerising bungalow, 'Jalsa'. The glimpses from Bachchan's beautiful home often surface on the internet, leaving netizens in awe of it. However, the luxurious home, 'Jalsa', was initially named as something else. Later, due to some valid reasons, the name was changed.
As per multiple reports, Amitabh Bachchan and his wife, Jaya Bachchan's Rs. 100 crore worth mansion, 'Jalsa', was initially called 'Mansa'. The new name 'Jalsa' literally means celebration. And the name was changed at the recommendation of an Astro-architect, Neeta Sinha, who works for dozens of celebrities to enhance the positive energies of their home and office spaces. Along with it, Neeta Sinha is popularly known as Bollywood’s favourite Vaastu consultant.

In an old interview with Masala!, Neeta was asked about the reason for transforming the name of Amitabh Bachchan’s 'Mansa' to 'Jalsa'. To this, she revealed that his daughter, Shweta Bachchan, introduced Neeta to Big B when the latter was facing a critical time in his career, leading to the financial crisis. Thus, Neeta helped the Bachchan family to select a new name for their Juhu mansion, 'Mansa'. Although Neeta admitted that the name 'Mansa' given by Harivansh Rai Bachchan in honour of a family guru was also beautiful, it didn't suit the place. Thus, she suggested the letter J for the same. In addition, Neeta also helped the Bachchans during Harivansh’s bad health. In Neeta's words:
“It was 1998, Mr Bachchan was going through a difficult time. To convince him was a big thing because he, at that time, it seemed was done with religious beliefs and all kinds of occult practices. I improved Harivanshrai’s corner, for better energy. Mansa was a nice name. Just that it didn’t suit the place. So, I suggested something with the letter ‘J’."
Amitabh Bachchan, being an avid social media user, keeps giving sneak peeks into his life, featuring glimpses from his home, 'Jalsa'. For instance, on November 28, 2022, Amitabh penned down one of his blog posts and mentioned that a bench made in the shape of his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan's book, Madhushala, is made in the lawns of their house, 'Jalsa'. Amitabh also mentioned that a similar kind of bench is placed in Wroclaw in Poland, which has been declared a Heritage City by UNESCO. In addition, Amitabh penned that universities have an entire section for studying the language of Hindi and its literary works.
