Amitabh Bachchan is one of the greatest living legends in the Indian film industry, and his name is sufficient enough to stand as a testimony to some of the most unparalleled plethora of films. Kickstarting his career as the angry young man of the 70s, Big B went to preserve his legacy and set an exemplary epitome, as he is still an enthusiastic performer at the age of 81. Son of eminent poet and writer, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Amitabh has proven his way through the world of cinema from a no one to the icons.
In an old interview with News18, eminent filmmaker and actor, Tinnu Anand recalled a lesser-known anecdote between his father, Inder Raj Anand and Amitabh Bachchan. Tinnu talked about the time when his father shot with Big B for the film, Kaalia and revealed that the actor was having a lot of difficulty pulling off a line in his dialogue, that was in Urdu. Despite several attempts, Amitabh wasn’t able to deliver the dialogue properly, which led to Inder Raj berating him in front of the entire crowd of over 200 film. Recalling his father’s words to the actor, Tinnu Anand said:

“Beta, yeh Urdu hai, isme wazan hota hai… Laanat hai tumpe. Harivansh Rai Bachchan ke bete ho tum. Unke chhaon mein pale ho, aur tum keh rahe ho ke zubaan nahi hai yeh tumhari? Laanat hai tumpe.”

Previously, during an episode of his show, Kaun Banega Crorepati 15, Amitabh Bachchan talked about the hardships faced by his father and poet, Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Elaborating more about it, the actor recalled a particular moment and revealed how back in his childhood, he couldn’t afford to buy something as meagre as a pen, since his father could only afford to earn anywhere between Rs. 400 to Rs. 500 monthly. In his words:
“During childhood, I didn't have a pen. My dad used to earn around Rs 400-500 a month. We couldn't afford a pen with it. So, that's how we got educated.”
Back in January 2023, Amitabh Bachchan had been bestowed with glory at the Joy Awards, wherein he delivered a heartfelt speech in acceptance of the award. Amongst all the other things that he revealed, Big B particularly reminisced about his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and revealed that the latter would watch one Hindi film every evening, during his last days. Elaborating the reason behind it, he then mentioned:
“My father, a great poet - during the last days of his life, he used to watch a Hindi film every evening, sometimes repeating the same film every time. I asked him what is it that you find interesting in the cinema. He said that I get poetic justice in three hours. You and I won’t get poetic justice in a lifetime or several lifetimes. That’s the power of cinema."

Back in another of the episodes of the show, Kaun Banega Crorepati 15, Amitabh Bachchan talked about his debut film, Saat Hindustani. He added that the first-ever salary which he received upon working with the film, he wanted to give it to his parents, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan, as a token of the immense contribution they had made to raise him up. In his words:
“Humko ye laga ki isase hume jo bhi milega, wo hum apne ma-babuji ko de dein. Mujhe ek zariya mil gaya ki apne ma-babuji ko bula kar apne paas rakhein. Jo zimmedari unhone humare liye jeevan bhar kiya hai us zimmedari ko hum apne kandho par rakh kar aage unke liye kar ke dein.”
