Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan welcomed their daughter, Aaradhya, the apple of the Bachchan clan's eye, in 2011. Her birth not only changed her parents' lives but also transformed the lives of her grandparents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. And Big B has always expressed his gratitude for the same. Back in 2011, soon after Aaradhya's birth, Amitabh dropped a tweet praising his daughter-in-law, Aishwarya, for bearing the pain of labour. The tweet recently resurfaced on Reddit, and netizens have taken offense to the actor's remarks.
Soon after Aishwarya Rai became a doting mommy to her baby girl, Aaradhya, her father-in-law took to his then-Twitter handle to shower her with praise. The actor commended her for having a 'normal delivery,' penning:
"And emphasising the commendable desire of Aishwarya in having a normal delivery without any epidural or pain killers."
Amitabh commended Aishwarya's resilience yet again when he and his son, Abhishek Bachchan, stepped out of their home, Jalsa, to address the media after Aaradhya's birth. The doting grandfather opened up about what the hours before the birth had been like, revealing that when they reached the hospital on November 14, the doctors told them the baby could arrive at any time. However, it was on the 16th that Aishwarya actually delivered the baby.
Amitabh then lauded Aishwarya for sticking to her decision to have a normal delivery despite people preferring 'C-section and other things.' He can be quoted as saying:
"This was a normal delivery even though these days people opt for C-section and other things. But Aishwarya wanted a normal delivery, she had to struggle but I commend her that she was in acute labour for a long time, almost 2-3 hours. But she persisted, said she wanted a normal delivery. She did not use any epidural or painkiller."
Recently, Amitabh Bachchan's tweet resurfaced on Reddit, and his remarks about 'normal' deliveries didn't go down well with netizens. Users rightfully pointed out that C-sections were just as painful and required a significant amount of recovery time. One user penned, "In next life, Amitabh, you do it 'normally,' while another reiterated Rachel Green's iconic line from the show Friends, "No uterus, no opinion."

A medical professional even took to the comment section with their thoughts, writing, "Medical doctor here, there is no such thing as normal delivery. It's either vaginal or caesarean. I'd like any men to try and tolerate even 10% of the pain of childbirth. They can then comment about it."
Off-putting remarks aside, Amitabh Bachchan certainly shares an admirable bond with his daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai, and his granddaughter, Aaradhya. On October 11, 2021, Aishwarya took to her IG handle to share a picture of Amitabh and Aaradhya hugging each other. The grandpa-granddaughter smiled as they posed for the camera. Along with it, Aishwarya penned down a special birthday note, which could be read as, "HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST DARLING DADAJIII-Pa. LOVE YOUUU FOREVER AND BEYOND."
