Alia shares a beautiful bond with her daddy, Mahesh Bhatt though he wasn't around her when she was growing up. In an interview with Komal Nahta, Alia had opened up on her father's absence during her childhood and how their real friendship started when she had entered the Bollywood industry. The Corona scare have locked people in their homes, and same is with Alia Bhatt as she is locked in her home away from her parents, making her more concerned for their health. In an interview, the filmmaker told that Alia visited her parents recently but took all the precautions to keep them safe.

In the interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Mahesh Bhatt talked about how Alia lives at a small distance away and came to meet them, armed with mask and gloves. He said, “We met a few days ago—she lives a few buildings away and it’s a protected space. So, she just walked across with mask and gloves on and sat at a distance so she wouldn’t endanger her parents. It warms the heart to see her fulfil the social role of a responsible young child and to see your children teach you what you taught them in their childhood.”
There have been speculations that Alia Bhatt is living with beau, Ranbir Kapoor during the lockdown, and as Alia’s sister Shaheen regularly posts Alia’s pictures on her social media handle, the speculations were rife that Shaheen is also accompanying Alia and Ranbir. However, in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, mom Soni Razdan had clarified that the sisters are living apart. Soni was asked if her daughters are watching the reruns of her show, Buniyaad which is currently on air, she had said “Alia and Shaheen live separately but I have told them to watch it. I have no idea whether they are or not. I am sure, they will. As the COVID-19 outbreak has put everyone’s life at halt, people are advised to stay at home to minimise the spread of this virus. It is also said that the virus is impacting the people above the age of sixty the most, this had made Alia Bhatt more concerned about her father, Mahesh Bhatt’s health. In an interview with Rajeev Masand, the actress had shared, "He is 70 plus. I am constantly nervous and thinking. That’s why I am always screaming ‘don’t touch your face, don’t do this’."

On March 26, 2020, Alia had shared an emotional post for her father, Mahesh Bhatt. She had posted a monochrome picture and had written, "Stay home and go through old pictures when you’re missing your daddy", followed by a heart emoji.
