Akshay Kumar Slams Trolls For Calling Him Money-Minded, 'Jolly LLB 3' Star Says 'Lootke Nahi Kamaya'

Akshay Kumar is a highly successful and prolific Indian actor, producer, and martial artist who has made a significant contribution to Bollywood over a career spanning more than three decades. Often referred to as 'Khiladi Kumar', he has starred in over 150 films across various genres, including action, comedy, and socially conscious dramas. He is currently appearing in Jolly LLB 3, for which he was reportedly paid a hefty fee. Due to his whopping net worth and per-movie payment, he is often trolled and called 'money-minded'. Recently, the actor responded to such allegations with a befitting response.

Akshay Kumar hits back at trolls for calling him 'money-minded'

Akshay Kumar and his alleged love for money have long been a topic of discussion in the Bollywood industry. From fans to celebrity businessmen like Ashneer Grover, many have repeatedly trolled Akshay for the same reason. The Jolly LLB 3 star has finally addressed the label of being 'money-minded' at The Great Indian Kapil Show. Akshay stated that he has earned his wealth through hard work and honesty, not by illicit means.

He emphasised that he has been India's highest taxpayer for eight consecutive years. Akshay agreed that money is a crucial part of life; however, he rejected the notion that it is the only thing he thinks about. It might have been his response to the online trolling surrounding the finances of the fourth-richest Bollywood actor in 2025. Akshay stated:

"Agar paisa kamaya hai toh lootke nahi kamaya. Maine kaam karke kamaya hai. 8 saal se I have been the highest taxpayer. Toh, it cannot be that I am money-minded or anything. Money is an important aspect in life, you have to be practical."

Akshay Kumar shared that he does social work with the money he earns

Akshay Kumar said that he earned money through legitimate work and used it for charitable activities, which was a part of his 'dharam' or duty. He is least bothered by what others have to say about him. The actor also believed that, regardless of the type of work one does, as long as it's legally permissible, there's no problem with doing it and earning money. Even if one does a string-cutting job and makes money through their hard work, no one else should have a problem with that. Akshay told Kapil Sharma:

"Paisa kamata hoon, tax deta hoon, aur un paiso se kaafi seva bhi karta hoon. Ye mera dharam hai. Baaki chahe kuch bhi kahe, main kuch vishwas nahi karta. Agar aapko pheete katne se paisa milta hai toh kya problem hai? Woh paisa dene ko taiyaar hai? Jab tak aap kisi se chori nahi kar rahe, jab tak aap kisi ko loot nahi rahe ho, jab tak aap mehnat kar rahe hain tab tak koi problem nahi hai."

Akshay Kumar's financial goal: A FD of Rs. 100 crore

In the same episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Akshay Kumar said that he was inspired by veteran actor, Jeetendra, who reportedly had a Rs. 100 crore fixed deposit (FD). Akshay recalled reading about it in a newspaper article and asking hai father, "If someone makes an FD of Rs. 100 crore, what would that be?" When he learned that the monthly interest rate was roughly around Rs 1.3 crore, that became his financial goal in the early phase of his career. However, he wouldn't be satisfied after achieving it and would want more.

"At that time, the interest rate was 13%, which meant Rs. 1.3 crore per month. I thought, 'The day I manage to create an FD like that, I'll feel financially secure.' But humans are never satisfied. That number kept increasing for me from Rs. 100 crore to Rs. 1,000 crore and then Rs. 2,000 crore. The greed never ends."
